A dead person hired thugs to kill me...
This is not so much a question, more so a funny story. I just finished the dawnguard's questline, and *SPOILER ALERT* after killing all the volkihar vampires, I decided to browse around the castle and see what stuff I can take. After all, they won't be needing them anymore. The items I picked up were all marked as stolen, but again the owners are dead so what does it matter? Well, a few days later I am tracked down by hired thugs who die easily enough. One of them carried a contract, signed by Modhna, one of the vampires I killed at the castle, on the premise of stealing from her.

Perhaps its just a bug in the game... or perhaps, Modhna somehow survived the battle, and is now cowering in some dark corner in the Undercroft, plotting her revenge against me for killing her friends and looting her home. Either way... LOL.

Anything similar happen to any of you fine adventurers?

Assassination...from beyond the grave~~~ :O

Modhna is now recuperating in a secret lair, plotting your death in oh-so-entertaining ways.

Always something new with Skyrim. My best was having my Dragonborn who is a Werewolf getting the Vampire disease with the perks to go along and sometimes fighting for survival in towns. Awesome

Headless Bandits attacking was one of my favorites. They would stand their Naked waiting for me to kill them then loot suddenly appeard on their bodies. This mess broke my heart because I was actually wanted to finish it.

This is nothing new. Many NPCs you kill send people after you. Some will even send the Dark Brotherhood! Who do you think sent the assassins after you?

I thought the Dark Brotherhood assassins were just a random event after you get to lvl 8. As for who sends them, I have no clue, lol.

But hey, this game does weird stuff sometimes. Lol.

Well, I guess ALOT of people want the Dragonborn dead...though that's kinda dumb since the Dragonborn is the only one who can defeat Alduin.

I suppose... I'm an orc, so the local nords don't really like me anyways.

Brand-Shei put a hit out on me once. When I was supposed to be helping him! I was sad that the game didn't allow for a dialogue after that tho. Would've made for an interesting conversation.
Big hairy werewolf taps him on the shoulder.
"Whyfor you send assassin after me?"
"Umm..err...who me?"
"Me find note."
"I don't know what you're talking about. Gulp."
"You send assassin. Me eat assassin. Now me eat you. CHOMP! Dark Elf tasty.."

There are a few quest line characters that, after you have killed them, seem to send assassins after you but only if you steal loot from their premises. So only take the stuff that is not marked as Steal.

Haha, I got one once from "Signed Riften Guard". Anise has sent me thugs from beyond the grave too. I wonder if chickens ever do so?

Perhaps they would, if you stole an egg xD

But the note would read "Teach [Dragonborn] a lesson for murdering my child and using it for a potion."
