trying to start a poisoners greenhouse
ive always been interested and overwhelmed by alchemy. i now have a greenhouse and am interested in making health poisons, magicka regen and drain poisons, paralysis poisons, and invisibility potions. what can i grow in a greenhouse to make these? if at all possible only using growable ingredients to be self sufficient.

I've made more than a few "poisoner's nooks" in my greenhouses, but they all felt pretty lackluster, to be honest. The biggest poison ingredient in the entire game, Jarrin Root, is not growable without using mods. However, there are mods on the workshop that can fix this. Using that mod, I've now got a steady supply of jarrin root, nightshade, poisonbloom, deathbell, and a few others I cant think of off the top of my head, and am enjoying being an evil alchemist for a change.

edit: for your own safety, if you use a mod like the one I mentioned above, do NOT sample the jarrin root...

Hi. I'll just post the recipe I can remember off the top of my head and come back later to post any others.

SPOILER ALERT!

Invisibility - Ice Wraith Teeth and Chaurus Eggs

Luna Moth is another ingredient you can use for the invisibility potion, but it's not a pure mixture. Sorry I can't think of the second ingredient right now. As far as I know, there are no plants that produce this potion.

EDIT: Corrected a mistake. Vampire Dust and Luna Moth will produce an invisibility potion with added positive effects. I'll post what they are later on. It sells pretty well anyway. :-)

If you're a poison user, build a house in Morthal. You get the greenhouse plus a fishery. The fishery is key because you can raise River Betty fish, which have one of the most powerful toxins at base level in the game. Any poison you make with a RB chosen as the first ingredient is going to be powerful.

I grow mora tapinella and imp stool in my green house. I make the lingering damage health and paralysis potions and find these two ingredients are hardest to get by other means.

My Alchemy is 57 and I've got the Alchemist 60% Stronger perk (3/5 on the skill tree under Alchemist).

Here's what I've come up with for Paralysis: Canis Root and Briar Heart = Target is paralyzed for 8 seconds. You can plant those two.

Death Bell and Nightshade create a pretty strong Poison of Damage Health. It's 25 points at this level. I've got these ingredients in my garden.

Hope that helps some. :-)

If you want more recipes, just let me know. I'll be following this discussion. Alchemy and Smithing are two of my favorite things to do in Skyrim. :-)

This site is really handy for alchemy stuff - there are tabs at the top for 'view ingredients' and 'view effects', and if you hover over an ingredient/effect name without clicking it lists all the effects of that ingredient/ingredients with that effect, if you click it will show you the best combinations to unlock multiple effects for a given ingredient, and list all the ingredients which share a common effect so you can work recipes out easily http://skyrimalchemy.com/ Most things can be grown in either the greenhouse or the garden (sometimes both) but I know there are some exceptions such as nirnroot.
