more likely if you just installed the game, the expansions are not in the right order download BOSS from here:

http://boss-developers.github.io/

and follow the instructions and it will put everything in the right order. If you have any questions message me I'll help you out

Well ive done this, and used nmm too, and still the game crashes as soon as it gets to bethesda logo and doesnt give any reason why. :/ dang it.. hehe

Ok go click on your library, it should come up with a list of your games. Now right click the game that you want the cache varified on. When the list pops up select properties. It will now come up with the properties box at the top select the local files tab. There will be four buttons select the verify integraty of game cache. Something to remember about this is that any game that automaticly detects you graphic settings will end up saying 1 file missing. its no big deal its just the file that does that.

the link that i posted is for BOSS its a Load order sorting tool for mods it puts them in the "most correct order" by using certain rules. Its totally safe most modders and people using mods use it, but if you don't want to use it make sure that your load order atleast follows this order;

Skyrim.esm (you can't see this one)
Update.esm (you can't see this one)
USKP - unofficial skyrim patch
Dawnguard.esm
UDGP - unofficial Dawnguard patch
Hearthfires.esm
UHFP - unofficial Hearthfires patch
Dragonborn.esm
UDBP - unofficial Dragonborn patch
[Other ESMs]
Official hi-res DLC
UHRP - unofficial hi-res patch
[Other ESPs]

This is the load order provided by the Unofficial Patch Project Team basically they fix most of the stuff that the dev's didn't get around to doing. The unofficial patches are not required but are recommended by many players.

quick question: When does it crash?

After you load a game?

After starting a new game?

Just after/at the Bethesda Logo?

These kind of details will help us narrow down your exact problem, rather then wild guessing XD

With the recent Workshop debarcle, could well be missing dependent mods.

Well I Have noticed some of the crashing problems and have been trying to pass them on where I can.

1. If the game won't start it's usually a problem with either Steam not connected or the program example being missing or corrupt files.

2. At or just after the Bethesda Logo is that your mods are not in the right order, mainly the esm's and unofficial patches. I had to use the BOSS tool to straighten that out.

3. after starting a new game, I have found that it is ussually a specific mod or two mods that incompatible a good example of that is the Ethereal Elven Overhaul and XCE(better face textures and anything that makes the outside ground more realistic(becuase of the way the physics works you end up in this death spiral that freezes the game on the way to helgan.

4. The most infuriating one is though is the random crash to desktop. There is the least amount of help out there for that. I figured it out about a year, year and a half ago but never thought to pass it on to anyone and had to refigure it out again when installed skyrim on my new computer. Everyone thinks that it has to do with the mod you have or your computer but it doesn't. It's a connectivity issue with steam. You can fix it by putting steam in offline mode when you play skyrim. I just played and hour and a half in the afternoon and three in the evening and i didn't have a single crash, yesterday I was crashing to desktop every ten to twenty minutes...

Game crashes to the desktop as soon as the first screen, bethesda screen apears. it then crashes as soon as the bethesda bit finishes.

Thats definatly the load order of your data files. Higher up i posted the link for the BOSS tool and the basic order of files if you want to do it manually.
