The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
If you're having black screens with the latest NVIDIA driver
Don't worry, it's not your video card failing, it's a known issue which is happening with a lot of other games too and they will hopefully fix it soon. Basically the driver kernel crashes and recovers after 3-4 seconds. If you haven't updated yet to the latest driver don't do it unless it's very important.

So they brought back that black screen crash and recover error with the recent update. You would think they would have gotten it fixed the first time around.
It's not like they brought it back on purpose XD

programming this stuff must be hard, I sorta understand them. They have to take into account every single GPU from the 400 series to the 700 when making drivers. Thus the new 750 and 750 Ti have a new, better architecture (Maxwell) which is different from the previous ones, they also have to deal with that.
That sucks, but to avoid things like these [especially nvidia BETA drivers; I'm guessing this was a BETA-non-WHQL release], I mainly update my drivers when it is required to play a game or to access newly added features.
Personally I'm still using v310.90 drivers [my laptop has a FERMI based card]; they're getting fairly old so maybe I'll upgrade; but this points to my initial assumption: is the problem with BETA or WHQL ?

Anyways, thanks for the heads up !
334.89 was not a beta version when I installed it. I've gotten the black screen at least once per gameplay.

GeForce 334.89 WHQL
Has NVIDIA addressed this problem at all?

Not yet it seems.
Damn, hope they find and fix the issue the next patch.
What's the last stable/best version of nvidia drivers, does anyone know? I used to run the 314.22 driver about half a year ago, these were fine. But the recent drivers don't seem to be so good.
i have gt 640m using 335.23 no problems allthough if i dont do a clean install of update of card i have known probs before what i mean by clean is tick custom when loading and tick clean install it
So should I just try to reinstall the driver cleanly and then restart to ensure it has been installed correctly?

Look in your DL directory and and install the 332.21 again. If you have been keeping up or use auto update you should have that file in there. It works, why use the newer one. Have you ever heard of the KISS principle? Keep it simple stupid. And the other saying. If it is not broke don't fix it.
I made the mistake of unpdating my bios on my new motherboard. Now my MB has a tendancy to over heat. (overheat and crash). I now have to run my pc at 3Ghz instead of the 4Ghz that I had it overclocked to. Before the update it never got over 144 degrees F running at 4Ghz and running many programs in the background. Now I have to run it slow and with nothing else running or it will go over max temp of 176F, Tried to go back to old bios, but it is not available.

Im currently using nvidia experience, im not sure if I should wait until the next update and hope it includes a fix or to try and downgrade to back to the previous driver. Is there a way to see find your past drivers without looking on the website?
