Mods
can a mod just vanish? do you lose all of your stored items if that mod was a house? or are mods on here forever? i just do not want to play one day and my items are gone? how safe is it really to use a mod to save your items as opposed to a built in the game home?

I don't really see how a "mod" would just vanish, unless for whatever reason you accidently delete it (which you really can't unless you're mucking around in the skyrim data files) or somehow gets corrupted, which again, is very unlikely. If you're worried so much about it happening you can always backup your game files, including your save games and your mods and other stuff. Just make a folder for them and copy and paste them in there, put it on a backup hard drive or a USB flash drive.

If you find that your mod does disappear, when you go to load your save I'm pretty sure the game will warn you that it detects that there are missing objects that could not be loaded (which would be from mods). If it is a mod home, unfortunately yes, any items in the mod home would be lost in Skyrim limbo, unable to be obtained again. However I use plenty of modded player homes and I have never run into any issue of this sort. It is very safe and if you take care to back-up just in case there's nothing that can really go wrong. If the worst possible happens, and you load your save to find something's missing, DO NOT save over it, exit out of the game, and redownload the mod that's missing.

If you use Workshop mods, then if the author decides to pull the mod from public use, you'll find that your game will actually disable your use of it.
But "don't be scared"; you can easily and safely re-enable to mod in the "Data Files" tab of the Skyrim launcher. If you find yourself in such a situation [STEAM will give you a notice that a mod has been disabled], make sure you re-enable the mod before continuing to play yoru character.
