SKYWIND
Since my nets being a slow mean sob i'm making this thread for anyone who knows the who-what-where and why of Skywind and what it's all about.

What happens. where it will be located on skyrim (how to port over there) what new weapons & armor (if any) you'll get, and info that is helpful to this new mod.

If there's any other current threads for this exact discussion I apologise in advance.

It will basically be Morrowind in the Creation Engine. Overhauled map, reworked NPCs, new enemies, weapons, armors, etc. It's gonna be amazing. You'll need Dawnguard and Dragonborn if I recall correctly. I might be wrong.

It won't be anywhere in Skyrim - its a whole new worldspace modeled on the one from the original game.

It takes place around 200 years before Skyrimm does - its Morrowind ported over into the Skyrim engine . . . all this stuff is available at the mod's website.

Don't need the Skyrim DLC but you will need both Skyrim and Morrowind (with all Morrowwind's DLC).

I have to buy another game and all it's dlc's just for a mod? doesn't that defeat the purpose of modding to begin with?

That's because they use some of the models from the original game, just in an HD remaster.

No it isn't just an HD remaster.

Mainly its because its a mod of Skyrim using the IP from another game. If they *didn't* do that then they'd be shut down for infringing on Bethesda's IP.

These sort's of things are in a gray area legally. So the modders require you to have purchased the games that have the original assets so they can say that the IP holder is at least getting his money (which, amazingly enough, is enough to quiet down almost all objections).

Yeah, it's because they're using Bethesda's IP, as above. Even if you create your own model of say, Mickey Mouse, the character is still Disney's IP which limits your use of it. I already had Morrowind and Skyrim, so I gave Skywind a shot. A little buggy (at least on my system), but I do like it. At least the Argonians don't all walk like they have a wedgie anymore.
