The Elder Scrolls Online= Suscription?!
I'm not gonna get this game because of that; you're already paying for the game now you gotta do a monthly service?

Why do they need to do this!? there games are a huge hit! are they really this greedy?

I really wanted to buy the imperal edition but then I noticed the once a month thing.

What does everyone else think about this!?

I personally think this is BS.

Bethesda Game Studios Did not make this game...

Elder Scrolls Online is a MMORPG, a massive multiplayer online RPG. Because of that, there is constantly work that is involved with a game like that.

Tech support, online GM's, server fees and server maintenance, not to mention most MMORPGs have a constant stream of patches and updates applied to it. Not to mention development on expansions for the game.

It's not a normal Elder Scrolls game, it requires constant maintenance to keep up and running, because of that, it requires a fee for people to play.

I don't get this, we got people who have computers that can play the game, we got people who have access to high speed internet and most likely can afford to pay the damn $60.00 retail cost for the game, but they are upset at a $15/month subscription fee.

I think you are an idiot and shouldn't have access to the internet.

Also, it's just business. They think they can get enough people to buy the game and pay a subscription. The subscription, if continuing, will provide much more revenue then the price of the game.

Add into that the cost of servers, and it's logical for there to be some form of recurring income.

Also, the devs will be continuing to add new content over time, which is partially what the subscriptions are meant to pay for.

It is not at all greedy. Many MMOs made by big-name companies have tried and succeeded with the same plan. In fact, most MMOs that stopped subscriptions only did so because they couldn't compete, not to be generous.

having said that, I wouldn't pay for a subscription. I'll wait and see if the game fails enough to warrant a conversion to a free to play system before joining.

I actually think subscription based games should be free to download/install and players would just need to pay a monthly fee to play the game.

Perhaps this is the model they are using. Hopefully the initial ESO fee has a couple free months in there [I am assuming it does].

But as many above stated, ESO is a MMMORPG, which is basically Skyrim + Facebook = ESO

While it's kind fo similar to Syrim, it's not, not really. And trying to compare it to Facebook? I guess you are as autistic as the OP.

I hate free to play games, I hate micro-transactions and it's ruining the gaming industry.

My point is MMORPGs have a large community/social aspect to them. No need for name calling.
Chill out and go play some Skyrim

How is it ruining the industry?

Sure, there's an over-saturation of poorly made free to play mmos, but most of them do poorly.

Then there's some that are well done and very fun - like Vindictus.

I would agree that micro-transactions could severly hurt or even ruin the industry, but it would have to reach an absurd critical mass, in which even AAA single player games more or less require them...which could happen...but we're not yet at the point where that seems particularly likely.

Uhhh he has a very valid point it has a lot of skyrim type gameplay and weapons and it does have Skyrim in it as a province plus many MMORPG's double as social chat rooms for those who play the game, so he makes a perfectly valid point!

Then you shouldn't even be worrying about it. My PC cost $600-ish dollars to build and that's on the low end of the spectrum and my internet is $80.00 a month.

I don't know where you get off complaining about the sub. cost when it sounds like you can't even afford to buy the ♥♥♥♥ing game.

Excuse me? sorry that not everyone is privelged like you, what a ♥♥♥♥........I do wanna get the game, I've been saving up for 3 months and have 60$ and am getting close to getting the last amount to get the special edition....and then I find out 15$ a month...and they just lost a loyal fan..

You're already paying for the game; and yet they want more. Greedy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s, thats all I see.

You do have a point but at the same time if it cost say Five million to make the game and they only get twenty thousand people that buy the game and each person plays it a year that means they get $4,800,000 and they lose money which is not good when they own Bethesda and bethesda makes many of the fallout and TES games and considering this is the first TES MMORPG they have no idea how well it will do, plus you'll find that after a while the price will go down considerably! The Price figures are just examples I have no idea how much it cost to develop millions for sure though1
