New steam update performance hit

Hi, I updated steam yesterday after some skyrim. Today I started playing and it's very choppy for a while and the way to fix it was to disable in-game steam menu and go into offline mode in steam.
Now I'm wondering if anyone had similar promblems with this steam release in skyrim ?
and yes. I know it's re-released for windows to fix updating bugs.
