creation kit problem (won't launch)
Hi! So I moved my skyrim to another hdd and I uninstalled creation kit from it's old hdd and installed it into the new hdd where I put skyrim in. But now, when I launch creation kit, it won't launch at all. It'll have the preparing to launch window, then it'll disappear, then nothing happens. Any advice?

=o I tried validating still no go
You moved it to a new hdd but is it also in a new directory? When you install programs Windows keeps a record of where things are installed so it knows where to look when a program calls for something. You might just need to edit the registry to tell the creation kit that Skyrim is in a new directory. You don't want to mess with the registry unless you have some idea of what you are doing.

Might be easier for you to just reinstall even though that can be time consuming and annoying.

Hi! do you mean reinstall skyrim into the new directory all together? Sorry xD can you elaborate a bit for me please
You said "I moved my skyrim to another hdd and I uninstalled creation kit from it's old hdd and installed it into the new hdd where I put skyrim in."

You could have added a new hdd and still have your original hdd in the computer where Skyrim was originally installed. For example you might have added a hdd and moved Skyrim from C:\Games|Skyrim to D:\Games\Skyrim.

Or you might have removed your old hdd and replaced it with a new one. For example even though you put Skyrim on a new hdd it still might be in the same directory. It might have oriiginally been in C:\Games\Skyrim and is still in C;\Games\Skyrim even though it is a new hdd.

If you just moved stuff over instead of installing then Windows and the game might have no idea where the information they are looking for is located. Hope that makes sense. :)
oooh I get you. Yeah, I just added another HDD and moved my whole steam folder into the new HDD (all the games work though just not creation kit) it used to be in G:\XXXX now it's in H:\XXXX and my gutt feelings was telling me that the kit and skyrim aren't communicating but I just have no idea how to make them so ._.

O_O my skyrim folder got wiped.....after i validated the creation tool
Sorry was afk. So all games work except for the creation kit and everything is in a new directory. Do you still have an uninstall option for Creation Kit? The Creation Kit is small and doesn't take long to reinstall. If only the ck isn't working the easiest thing to do would probably be reinstalling it.

uninstalling the creation kit uninstalled my skyrim too =( so I have to reinstall it again....;-;
Ouch! It uninstalls Skyrim also? That doesn't sound normal to me. If you go into Steam Library and Tools does it show the Creation Kit as installed? You might be able to reinstall it without uninstalling it.

Edit:

Or have you done that already? If going into Steam Library and Tools and installing the CK uninstalls Skyrim then you probably don't want to do that again.

=( yeah I actually googled it and supposedly it's because CK is linked to skyrim so uninstalling it uninstalls the game too >_______________< dangiiiit (had to re-installl all them mods now)
Yeah I just did a google search and you are not the first one to have this happen. Looks like lots of people are saying that if you uninstall the CK it uninstalls Skyrim also. Not everyone has this problem though.

That shouldn't happen....I have no idea how you can get around that other then maybe having to reinstall everything.

=( sigh...I am..I have to..well at least hopefully this will correct my whole CK problem too *cries* ;-; I finally got the right mix of texture mods for not only the whole skyrim world but also for the characters grrr. Luckily I have the big mods still saved in my computer so I don't need to dl hours upon hours of mods

Yes that is good news. I keep backups of all my mods in case something like that happens. Anyways good luck. :D
I deleted the local content in steam for the creation kit, and was not forced to uninstall skyrim. When I reinstalled the creation kit I pointed it to my new steam library, and now the creation kit starts properly.
i know this is a dead post, but i was having the same issue. all i had to do was launch skyrim once to install the required redist packs, then CK started up no problems at all
