Installing Fire and Ice Overhaul - Lit or Unlit Fires Version?
I want to install the Fire and Ice Overhaul mod, and it gives me two options at the installer:
Option 1: Installs Fire and Ice Overhaul with unlit fires
Option 2: Installs Fire and Ice Overhaul with lit fires
I don't know if I'm too dumb to understand what it means, or if I'm just misinterpreting it.
Which fires are lit? Where are they lit? Which one means what?

ok, if i remember right from when I used it briefly the basic lit fires will continue to light other thinghs on fire and spread.
the unlit does not spread. the original object can not light other fires.
I looked briefly in the posts but couldn't find anything in the 10 most recent pages of comments or the 10 pages of comments when first released.
I believe that is how it works though.
I didn't notice any real FPS issues but i didn't use it that long. things got out of control rather quickly at times and just never reinstalled the other version . good luck and have fun.

Btw when Alduin Breaks into the tower and breathes fire the fire will stick around. I forgot to turn my difficulty down from my last play so The Legendary fire damage almost killed me.
the jump across to the other building finished me off.

just a warning so you do not feel as stupid as i did.

you can use ice spells or shout to put out fires with this mod, i was in riverwood when a fire dragon showed up and set the town on fire

Okay. Thanks guys! So if I don't want my save file to go to hell, I should install the unlit version. Good to know.

The fire won't so much do it but the building up of ice may. in the comments you can see several people discuss this and I believe the mod author admits it themselves and throws out a warning. just be aware and possibly avoid building bridges or at least melt them once construction is done.
