Because they expect people to buy the Legendary Edition, which is sold at a discount versus the individual DLCs. Most games' DLCs don't tend to be cheaper than buying the bundled version, and many games stop having the DLCs for sale individually after a certain point, for example you can only buy Oblivion DLCs in the GOTY Deluxe Edition (or the GOTY if you just want SI and... I think it's KOTN.)

Buy the Legendary Edition - fool, Legendary Edition will overwrite your Skyrim and add the 3 DLC's - all for $23.99 us

I already own skyrim why the ♥♥♥♥ would i buy the legendary edition, i want dragonborn for 5 bucks and not a penny more...

I already know all that ♥♥♥♥. But WHY!? This is just bad business bull crap. I shouldn't have to buy the full game again just to get DLC at a cheaper rate than what they are selling it for. The DLC shouldn't be more than the game, PERIOD! They didn't spend more time & money making the DLC than the actual game, so why is the DLC so god damn expensive?

Because it is the most economical way of buying the DLCs? If you only want Dragonborn, then yeah, I guess you're kinda out of luck, but most people want all the DLC, so they cater to that.

Given it's pretty much the industry standard (base games and bundled editions get discounted, individual DLCs tend to stay full price until they are no longer available individually) it's obviously quite good business practice, in that it's presumably the most cost-effective/profit-maximising way of handling it. You can either stick to your guns and refuse to buy the cheapest option, or not, it's probably no skin off Steam/Bethesda's noses.

Yea, cost-effective/profit-maximising & yet there are still people who refuse to buy it because of that very reason. If they'd just lower the price of the DLC instead of being money grubbing pricks they'd probably make more money from those who just want 1 or 2 DLC packs.

I doubt it, most want all the DLC and/or want the best deal, which is almost always the Legendary Edition.

Yea, well the only thing I see when I look at the DLC page is a giant middle finger from Bethesda saying, "Screw you, buddy! BUY THE FULL GAME AGAIN!"

When did you buy Skyrim?

Sometime around it's release. Been waiting for the DLC's price to go on a decent sale but every time they just throw a bigger sale on the Legendary edition while the DLC is still always more expensive. Doesn't help that I'm pretty much broke 90% of the time. I don't have 24 bucks for the Legendary Editions and I sure as hell don't have 30 bucks for the DLC individually, let alone $50+ when it's not on sale, so every time Skyrim goes on a sale all I see is a giant middle finger.

Since it's not yoru first major sale; then you have no excuses for being ignorant of the Daily Deal phenomena.

And the LE version will wlays be cheaper than buying the DLC seperately. LE is/was for ppl who waited 2 years for Skyrim. If you still do not have any DLC at this point, then that's the price you pay for waiting so long. I'll just say it: stop being a cheap-♥♥♥.

Being a cheap ♥♥♥ & being broke are 2 different things you ignorant ♥♥♥♥. And the fact that I paid full price on release doesn't count for anything? I should be the one being rewarded for paying More than you cheap asses who waited 2 years.
