How do YOU cope with the fear of random CTDs?
This thread is for people that have crashes to desktop and other strange crashes, have tried everything and can't fix to the point they just have to deal with it, so they can keep playing, knowing their saves aren't affected.
So please don't come in here and say "I have ## mods and I never crash". That's not helpful, and not what this thread is about.

Is there a way to face your fear of this issue, shrug it off and keep going?

I'm using AutoHotKey to quicksave every 30 seconds. For the people that say "NO! Don't do that, you'll get a corrupt save!". That is my problem, not yours.

I dont. It's called updating your mods, checking for incompatibility, and sorting out the load order broski.

I used to live in fear like you - then I stopped using Warzones and it was all peachy :)

@JOSEPH. I've tried everything, including that. I'm not going to get into details. Just look at all of my threads in this board.
@Mumbles. I don't use Warzones. Never even heard of the mod.

Now please, be serious here. If you don't have a problem, please don't post in here. This is only for people that I said in the OP who are having issues similar to mine.

@grumpy old grimus. I've yet to run into any save corruption. There's nothing wrong with my saves. Multiple saving is the only way to "bypass" these issues.

You mistake my dry humour for insults and I apologise. But seriously - we all get CTDs at some point or another - and everything Joseph stated is how you avoid it happening. Many folks are here helping others with that issue everyday and a thread just to moan about it instead of fixing is a bit superfluous don't ya think?

My games doesn't crash too regularily, but it does crash sometimes so to be on the safe side, similar to you, I just quick save lots.
After finding some decent loot, after a big battle, after opening a master lock etc. and at least every few minutes anyway.

hm. so no incompatibility, everything updated..you sure you're not using too many mods? there is a limit.

I have no fears of CTD's

1. SKSE v1.7 (and later) incorporates Sheson's Memory Patch - by changing the size of the initial block of memory reserved for Skyrim its has removed the cause of around 90% of non-mod conflict caused CTD's.

2. Keep your graphics settings in a range appropriate to your PC. You only get about 3.1gb of RAM for graphics in Skyrim so pay attention to those HD mods and how far you push your uGridsToLoad. Upping both can give you beautiful imaging, for about 30 seconds until your computer chokes.

Otherwise - Quicksave. Quicksave. Quicksave. If you're not hitting quicksave every 30 seconds then you're doing it wrong. Even if QS gets corrupted, you've got Autosaves and (if you've got sense) regualr saves - that you should be doing after the completion of any major event.

If you're using your save resources then you should never lose more than 5 minutes of gameplay.

I don't get 'em, well not since I got my mods sorted, cleaned and SSME patch.

Got access to a 2nd PC that when I put my current savegame on crashes regularly like clockwork, still working on that one. Older saves are fine so has I has to be one of the mods I've since installed...

Either way I don't fear 'em, it's just annoying.

Love this thread. "Learning how to live with either a complete OS tarball or (NameGame) cluster &^&*. Brilliant. After this, could the OP move into the real world and show people how to safely dispose of used razor blades?

I love it how people new to forums seem to make threads like this when they're clueless. QQ More.
I don't have excessive CTDs in Skyrim like I do in previous Gamebryo games, but I still compensate by saving early and often, and never overwriting saves.
