Abandoned house at Markarth. I am usually living in it by level 1 if I don't have a mod that gives me housing. I think the 50+ storage containers are great as the place is a no respawn zone. If you do decide the finish the quest associated with the house, you'll have a pretty good weapon for an early level too. Usually I can finish the quest pretty early too, depending on where you are sent.

I also found half the time the target is located the same place as the markarth temple target. two birds one stone.

Or two briarhearts, one stone. :) I even think there's a sellsword at Markarth you can hire that can help a level 1 whelp out with the remainder of the quest if they be a squishy build, provided they have the coin. There is a free one too, but I don't think he's as good, considering he's one of the town drunks. That one usually goes to Boethiah if I decide to be nice to Lydia in a playthrough.

If you're a packrat like me even that's not enough.

they can carry unlinited if you order them to empty the container or containers

Does that work for wardrobes and nightstands also?

Didn't know that either. I usually trade everything to them and they have a finite limit via that method. How do you get them to empty a container? Just curious.

talk to them and choose the option "need you to do something" click on container

Trouble is, that causes everything to be marked as 'stolen', or at least it does in my game. I usually just grab everything and walk to my horse (I use convenient horses, so I can then stash stuff in its inventory, although I believe you can ride horses if over-encumbered?). Also means I don't have to faff around taking stuff from my follower later before I can start putting it in chests. Would be annoying if moving to Solitude or Windhelm, I guess, but I usually live in Lakeview, or Honeyside, or maybe Breezehome, so I can go up to the gates on my horse and then it's not too long a walk (or Lakeview obviously I can ride up to the door if I really don't want to walk.)
