Skyrim from ramdisk
Has anybody played Skyrim from ramdisk. Just ordered Asus Maximus VII Ranger. No more loading. Ramdisk is over ten times faster than SSD.

Nope, but if its recognised as a regular drive like any other it should work

ten times? more like hundred times. Offcourse SSD's on PCI-e cards can be way faster than usual SSD's as these arent limited by the Sata-3 controllers.

That motherboard maxes out at 32GB of ram. I hope you don't have any high resolution textures or mods. My Skyrim + mods is coming in at 29.1GB. Enjoy your instant loads sans high res textures or expansive quest mods.

You could definitely play it from a ramdisk. You'd just need to use a motherboard that supported 64GB of ram or more, ideally with 8 memory slots. It's just that you'd be spending a significant amount of money for a relatively minor performance bump.

Just ordered: Lian Li PC-B16, Seasonic 650W G-650, Asus Maximus VII Ranger, Intel 4690K, G.Skill RipjawsZ DDR3 1600 MHz 16GB kit, Windows 8.1 OEM. I have to wait few weeks Sundisk Extreme Pro.

I hope VII Ranger integrated sound card/chip is good enough. Can't use old X-Fi Extreme Gamer PCI card on that motherboard.

Why bother with water cooling? Its not like that CPU will run extremely hot. And the graphic card will probably make more noise than the CPU fan. Oh, and I hope you got a 2x8GB and not 4x4GB ram stick set.

I just want hot air directly out of case. Maybe little overclocking. 4690K is not locked. Might do same thing to graphic card. Arctic Cooling makes nice water coolers for graphic cards. Check this: "Accelero Hybrid II 120". I tried to find low latency Asus qualified 1600 MHz 2x8 kit. Not available in Finland right now. There were 10-10-10-27 2x8 kits. I hope 4x4 9-9-9-24 is faster solution. At least G.Skill RipjapsZ look nice. Color matches to motherboard :-) And they are 100% compatible with Maximus VII Ranger.

If I don't install water cooler to graphics card I will install my old Antec Super Cyclone Blower under graphic card. It sucks hot air and blows it out of case. Excellent product.

The trouble with water cooling is the radiators still need fans to cool them down and they're the things that make the noise, unless you have a passive system like the Reserator, and thats pretty darn expensive and not exactly portable. Those prebuilt water coolers offer no better performance than good aircoolers.

Unless you're restricted for space inside your case a good air cooler will suffice.

I have skyrim + mods on a 18 gig RamDisk....

Loading times are better....
It will load at 13 ugrids if I set it....

Still frame stutters once every 10 seconds or so..... WTF?
