The New Elder Scrolls Gaming Style
So do any other Elder Scrolls fans feel that the game series should return to being a singleplayer game? I have played E.S.O and it was amazing but i just didn't feel it was up to par with Skyrim, Oblivion, etc. etc. and that it should return to that style of gameplay.

Anyone else?

I believe the next should be more immersive. Choices have consequences. Fight for survival predators will attack you, you will freeze to death, you will die from disease, build a camp at night, enemies level with you, etc. But I agreee it should be MMO style if it is multiplayer I believe it should co-op where you and a friend or two can team up and go at quests and surviving together, one of you gathers some firewood and stes up camp while the other goes and hunts for that nights supper. I believe marriage should matter. Being Thane should come with perks. You shouldn't able to walk through Solitude in Stormcloak gear. Can't join Brotherood and The Guild cause they have conflicts of interest. I could go on and on about what I'd like to The Elder Scrolls become...or a game in the same theme as TES that has these traits.
ESO is NOT part of the Elder Scrolls series
Pretty much what Trigger said.

You cannot compare the series with an MMO. I don't like MMO's but ESO allows me to have some fun game time with my GF and I can still do some single player stuff until the possibility of another release in the single player series.

comparing a single player with an MMO is like comparing a Japanese water garden with a noodle stained t-shirt. They are just WORLDS APART! >.< you cannot compare them.

(unless the noodle stain looks like an exquisite tree, but you'll really have to spill it all down yourself to ensure a good image)

I don't play ESO because of the subscription fee, but I don't want to see another MMO because of that and the game is pretty much going to be like other MMOs. This is why I don't get into MMOs since I feel they don't really change much in the way of key gameplay elements.

Single player is much better in my opinion because there's a whole series of games you can have fun with, each with a unique story that connects to the franchise. It's about you and your adventures in single player, not a population in which everyone fights for the top to win since that's when the game becomes more of a competition than a fun, interactive experience.
dont worry, the devs from the mmo only got the name license.

The real elder scrolls dev team has nothing to do with this.

Indeed :D Still its sad the Devs from the MMO version put all their creative energies into their child and for unseen reasons things turned out the way they did. Its not like Zenimax put all this money into a project fans have been begging for ages to happen just to see this outcome.

At least I got a awesome Molag Bal statue out of it they are selling separate from the main Elder Scrolls Online game :)

Let ESO die, we don't need to mention that disgusting game here.
I don't know if this comment will be appropriate or on topic but I don't play mmo's. Never have...simply because I'm only into gaming on my free time (not much of that).

When I started playing PC games it was with the original Wolfenstein (actually before that but that's when I really got interested) and it's been first person shooters ever since.

When I first saw Skyrim I was impressed by the scenery, etc., but not really all that interested. And then I saw that you could paly the game from a first person perspective. That's when I decided to give it a try.

Skyrim is probably the best, most immersive game I have ever played. But without the first person POV I don't think it would have been near as immersive. I've looked at other games such as Witcher 3 but no fp...so not for me I think.

I am just now thinking about Dragonborn and Falskaar and looking forward to TES:VI I hope and expect VI to be better in all kinds of ways but I also hope they'll retain the option to play FP.

Pretty much the same experiance here with Spear Of Destiny and the first Doom totally taking me in after some brief time with Blake Stone, The Legacy, Realms Of The Haunting etc on PC. Before that it was rpgs on the Commodore Amiga like Black Crypt and Eye Of The Beholder. All first person games. Playing third person just doesnt have the same I am there feeling which is one of the reasons I couldnt get into The Witcher series as much as I wanted to. Top down view is nice though since they usually have gorgeous art to enjoy such as the Diablo and The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing series along with the upcoming Grim Dawn.

Thanks for your positive post MacSuibhne. Helps to remind me to be appreciative of what has come our way.
