Alduin fight problem

So im all geared up for fight with Alduin at throat of the world but when i read dragon scroll nothing happens im just left on a kind of blank inventory screen, i can hit escape and continue game but cant get the fight started :( i have done this before with another character and im standing on the right spot so i know it should work. This problem started without me downloading any mods so i dont thind thats it. im not sure if ive just missed something this time round or if its a bug, anybody run into similer problem? any help or advice to solve this problem is appriciated, thanks all

it happens. reload and try again. and again and again. you could console it but that could open up other problems later on
