Do black soul gems dissapear when used?

Title says it all. Honestly though do they disappear or something because i used to have 10 of them and not i only have 2.

Yes. Only the one that's "infinite" is permanent. Azura's Star. There might be others, but it's the only one I've encountered in a couple hundred hours of playing. You get Azura's Star through a quest.

Barring mods, Azura's Star is the only soul gem that doesn't get used up.

Ask barkeepers about rumors. One should tell you about the big statue built by the elves. It is south east of Winterhold. This starts the quest entitled "Azura's Star". At least that is what I think it is called.

go to the shrine of azura near winterhold and talk to the person there. This will activate the quest.

If you want to use it as a black soul gem make sure you pick the Black Star (take the Star back to the guy in Winterhold, not the priestess at the shrine).

I like how the game doesn't really give you any indication of that either, as I remember turning it to the black version during my first playthrough, but this time I was looking for the option and didn't see it and took it back to the priestess. :-(
