Lydia is a Baby
Hello! I'm sorta new to skyrim and I have something weird you should know. I decided to take on a dragon, with my friend Lydia. She died and I've never talked about her again. Any way I can get her back or should I even care?

She's ellementary character, she can't die. I'm pretty sure she just fell and even if her health bar shows empty, she will regenerate (personal experience. I dropped her of a huge ravine, she looked like dying but soon after she started regenerating). All you have to do is wait, go on with the game. If she doesn't come up after 2 hours, try to fast travel somewhere. She should be at your back.
*That, of course, unless you have some mods installed that disable essential's invincibility. In that case, console's your only friend.

Actually you CAN kill an essential character, which Lydia isn't as well as most NPC's.
With regard to Lydia, she can be killed by the player.

Never worked for me, though..

All housecarls are the same. Enemies will send them to bleedout stage and then turn attention to elswhere. Characer can die, if player kills him/her or if enemy turn attention back to them during bleedout stage.

I am honestly not certain about the bleedout stage dying. It was said to be true in original game, but it might have been changed. Players killing housecarls and other similar characters is conformed.

I overkilled MIraak. The same thing can happen to followers.

Lydia died instantly

make your followers use bows, crossbows and staffs, and only you do melee. active effect- called "Companions Insight" protects your followers from any damage you put out, all they say is I'M ON YOUR SIDE. Companions insight comes from a BLACK BOOK = dragonborn DLC.

Or don't use followers at all.

I was wondering about this too. Thanks for the responses.

Full explenation works with every character-
[if you are next to the dead character]- open console with the key ~ right next to 1 and click on character, type resurrect and he/she will come back to life, bringing character that were fighting you back to life still makes them want to fight you

[if you dont know where the body is] open console with ~ and type player.placeatme #
the # is the ID of the character, to find the ID type in console: help [character name]
this teleports a {COPY} of the character right behind you

Lydia is very derpy as are others, I've had to restart from last save a couple times when she died. there was one cave with a bunch of fire floor tiles, she derped there pretty quickly. However followers will use items you give them if you give them better armour they will use it, if you give them a nice conjure staff they will use it. The best followers I've used are mages Brelyna Mayron and J'Zargo. They sort of stay back and do their magic ♥♥♥♥ while you chop at the hordes. There are occasions where I've had to use the healing hands spell to restore them though. but for the most part they're pretty good and seem to spot the enemies from range before you do.

Don't bother using the `¬¦ key and then typing that command, she isn't that important to the story in my opinion.
