Perfect for cutting up animals, undead, "volenteers" etc.
A sword cant be used as pricision tool.(too big to easy to cut stuff you dont want too)
And can be used in an emirginence as weapon.
I useally carry a sword around for back up reasons. we mages tent to run out of mana.
Tho i suppos a dagger would weight less and is usefull for backstabbing.
After all calm+sneak+person=corpse.
I repeat "Eeew... that could be messy."
I didn't want to be as obvious and to the point as you - LOL. Still your post made me grin, and then some (still chuckling here - on and off) Good one :D
Of course, in a game mechanics sense, this doesn't really apply because my character can pick up basically anything and become awesome with it in pretty short order, but then it's not all about game mechanics, for me.
(Oh, and see above for why not use a bound weapon for backup - although I do plan to have an assassin who carries no weapons, only using bound ones for her targets and for emergencies, but she won't be using any other spells, so her magicka pool will generally be full unless she comes up against someone using shock. Though she may carry a mace for thwacking wolves and the like, as that doesn't take much skill.)
I tried that - FAIL - 'twas too noisy. However, it worked much better with silent casting and a nice Dragonborn bound dagger enhanced through utilising the sneaky x15 damage. I hope you enjoy your playthrough as much as I did. :)
