Problem Starting Skyrim
Ok ive been looking around for awhile now to find how to fix this but everything has to do with mod which i have none installed and NEVER have installed any. I got the game during the steam sale and haven't been able to play it all yet.

It get to the logo screen and just crashes.
Again no mods, everything else on my steam works just fine.
Also i have done the sound thing, which all that did was made it where it started up a little longer then before.

i know that my specs are fine cause i can run GTA 4 and other harsh games that take alot.

can anyone maybe help me?

Go to your Steam Library, right click on Skyrim, left click Properties, select the DLC tab and check to make sure that you have the DLCs and High Res Texture Pack.

Next go to the Local Files tab and select Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Let it complete the verification. You should get a message like "1 file failed to verify and will be reaquired". This is normal. If more than one file fails they will be reaquired at startup.

Start the game. If you get to the screen with your Data Files click on it and verify all DLCs are present. It should read:

Skyrim
Update
Dawnguard
Hearthfire
Dragonborn
High Resolution Texture Pack 1, 2, 3

Do you have the Unofficial Patches Installed? These correct alot of problems with the game and DLCs so you might want to install them.

Once you get the game running, and I hope you do, you might want to take a look at these additions as well, SkyUI, SKSE, SKSE Tester.

If you plan to mod in the future you should get Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) for downloading from the Nexus, as well as a load order manager like BOSS or LOOT and TES5edit.

Make sure to read all instructions and discriptions of anything you add to your game.

There are lots of vidios on YouTube and Google that can teach you how to install and use these programs, so I suggest you watch the ones pertaining to any changes you plan to make in the future.

Good Luck and Happy Gaming!

i dont have any of the DLC. Like i have it clean installed from if you just bought the game, i did the verify, got that same message. I dont have the unoffical updates or anything. I only have what you get if you were to click download from steam thats all.

So, you only purchase the base Skyrim game not the Legendary Edition?. Are you able to get to the window with Data Files to check your load order?

Logo screen ? intro movie or main menu with logo ?

When you first start you get the small window in center of screen with image of Skyrim and list of files on right side, Play at the top and I believe Data Files should be third one down.

OK, with just vanilla game that looks correct. The only thing I can think of right now is for you to download the Unofficial Patches for Skyrim and Update, no need to bother with the DLC patches. You can find the links on page one of the Forums at the top (Green Pinned Topics).

Thank you very much i will try that and then update you

when you say update what do you mean? Cause putting those patch files in there, now make it where i barely see the logo, and i get an error that it has quit working. (the error is new btw)

With the vanilla game you have two files that are not shown in your Data Files load order:

Skyrim.esm
Update.esm

The "Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp" patch corrects mistakes that Bethesda failed to correct prior to, and since the release of the game. Once you have the patch you should see it in your Data Files. Forget about update, that was my bad.

If the file is there re-verify the game.

Have you played the game at all since you loaded it, ie do you have any saves, or has the game NEVER started?

The Game has never started.

The only other option I can think of, is to re-install the entire game from scratch.

ok. Ill try that. Do you think it might just installed wrong?

It has been known to happen. Make sure you remove everthing Skyrim.

1-Right click on Skyrim in your Library, then left click Remove Local Content.

2-On your PC select Program Files, you may have two depending on your operating system, find the one with Steam in it. go to SteamApps>Common>Skyrim and delete evreything.

3-Go to My Documents>My Games> Skyrim and again delete everything.

4-Start Steam and select The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and re-install.
