Console Click

I'd like to add more gold to the guy in the Whiterun general store using the console commands, and I could do this in all of the other Bethesda games I own by clicking on the guy with the console up, but I can't seem to do it in Skyrim with anyone. Am I doing something wrong? Can you even console click in this game?

There are mods to do that for you-look under Merchants.

I've had problems with mods in the past, so I want to do it in-game with the console.

Try this mod-I've used this mod for 4.000 hours and never had any problems= Sexy Merchants and Fences. You will find them sitting in stores, they are everywhere you can buy and sell stuff, they have between 9,000 and 20,000 gold on them- WARNING always sell your stuff to them first, then buy what you need-this is for the Merchants that have 20,000 gold + take their money first... using console commands could screw up your game.

Ok. I guess maybe I'll use that. I also can't click on locked doors to unlock them, though, co how do I do that?

you need lock picks to unlock doors

I know. But some require keys, and I haven't collected them all yet. And some doors are broken and not meant to open, but it's sometimes funny to do it anyways.

This was so much easier in Oblivion.

You should be able to select things/people with the cursor in the console, yes. I wouldn't advise unlocking "needs a key" doors as you'll probably discover later that you've broken a quest.

Ok. So if I can't select anything in-game, what's am I doing wrong?

Also, the doors are a bad example. I just remember a few in Fallout 3 that weren't meant to be opened at all, and I found it mildly amusing to do it anyways just to have a big hole in the world.

Puting funny hats on people is a better example.

I don't like giving them all one billion gold just so I can sell stuff to them, though. That's too cheaty. I just use it to give them a few thousand when I need to sell them Daedric armor or something. Plus if I used mods to fix all of my problems (merchant gold, horse death, companion death, etc.) my game would be running even worse than it is. And I'm running vannila with CTDs.

Though it all does sound a little dumb when I say it outloud...

Ok, now I feel uber stupid. It was working, it just doesn't show the object name like in the other games.

So now everyone in Whiterun has a Daedric helmet.
