if u did window mode just to tab out, theres an easier way. all you have to do is 1. go on full screen mode, 2. when the game is loaded click the esc button to the settings menus and tab out there your mouse doesnt messup when i do it that way. if u have any quest. just ask. :D

I cant change it to fullscreen mode when it is loaded up and its not neccessarily windowed mode it just has the blue bars around it like windowed mode just not the taskbar at the bottom

You can edit ini setting for windowed mode ... the skyrimprefs.ini

Look for "bFullScreen =0" - change the 0 to 1 and you should be good.

It is already set to 1 but it still has the windowed mode look even though it is not set to windowed mode and there is no taskbar on the bottom of the screen
you also might find teh game doesnt like being in windowed mode, and part of the game screen is off the actual monitor as well I always prefer windowed mods so I still have somne control om my computer, and is a little annoying to have to log out to do something, but didnt know about the above ...

same experience here for all elderscrolls games since a few day. Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim.
They load fine, videos are in fullmode, then when the game starts it pops up as a window. window frame and symbols cant accessed with the mouse (mouse stops right before- had the same bug with settlers btw).
Windows 8.1
any suggestions?
PS: Game is in fullscreenmode, but runs in a window.... .
windows 8.1 64bit, amd/ati 770
other games run fine

you know the elder scrolls games where aimed at nvidia?
But for fullscreen I'm stumped cuz It's not your card. Is your res of the game set the same as your monitor?

Thx for the answer viper.
The games worked fine- even under windows8.1. Maybe last windows8.1/amd radeon HD7700 update with new "amd gaming evolved" under latest steam environment cause problems.
After internetresearch it seams, that im not the only one, who has this "windows windowframe" problem.
Closing "amd gaming evolved" doesn't help.
With windows7 the games run just fine (other comp/labtop).

Dindn`t read the post carefully enough. For me it`s not a tab in /tab out cursor problem- but a window8.1 display problem (with the same blue frame). And the symbols cant get accessed by mousecursor (but the cursor works fine inside the window).
I would suggest installing ENBoost and turning on boderless window mode in the enblocal.ini file(assuming that your desktop resolution is the same as the game resolution).

Some games do the windowed games work so when the game is windowed, outside the window the cursor is a normal system cursor, and when it goes inside the window, it changes into the game cursor, and outside the window it's normal again. The cursor always has the same speed everywhere, and changing between windows is easy as pie.

I wonder why Bethesda didn't make it that way.

I could understand how it is solved...have the same going on here...
How the hell do you solve it, youre so confusing
This issue is not solved on this thread. I am having the exact same issue as Birdy, except with:

i7-3770k
Nvidia 660ti
32GB RAM
Windows 8.1
150GB SSD
2TB HDD

Windows mode is deselected in the launcher Options screen. I have changed the properties on the .exe to read as "run as administrator" and have even tried and turned off compatibility mode for Windows 7 AND XP. I tried going into the SkyrimPrefs.ini and changing the value under bFull Screen to 1 instead of 0....

I can't find anything else after a couple hours of searching and it seems like multiple people are experiencing this issue. Help please? I really want to play this game, but the window drives me crazy.

@brittle73, I had the same issue and was driving me nuts! I finally dug around and in the main skyrim folder where the .exe's are found. Properties, compatibility, and it was check marked in the "run this program in compatibility mode for: windows 8". Uncheck the box and Skyrim is now fullscreen again for me! :happy_creep:
