Essentials die even though they should be INVINCIBLE [Solved]
All characters in my game are killable. I have installed no mods to incorporate this and it is extremely frustrating.
When I brawl somebody they end up dying instead of just getting up afterwards. Esbern was killed by the Thalmor when we were getting out of the Ratway.
Thankfully the resurrection command solves most problems but how can I fix this so that I'm not constantly babysitting people who should be taking care of me, not the other way around?

I have the SAME exact problem and I have been looking around for an answer but can't seem to find one. I use the setessential command on my followers and check that they are essential using "isessential" but they still seem to die. I ALWAYS fail on brawl missions as well and in my last playthrough it took me a day to get the codes to get around the Moth Priest quest in Dawnguard.

I wonder if some mod that's been recently updated and that you both have has a glitch that makes it amend the .ini file like that?

'Tis very possible. It would be nice to know which mod it is, so I can avoid that. :-)

I doubt it because I had the problem when I was just playing vanilla.

If it's a mod i'd be very surprised. I had Aela die on me within a mission, and CTD, with vanilla +DLC x3. I think it's a general Bethesda thing. Now, before a mission, I always click on supposed essentials and type "isessential" and expect to see >1.00 after I hit return. If I don't see it I just quit and reload an earlier save. Only happened once since with Brynjolf but that may well have been intentional scripting - hell if I know.

Edit: yup, i did read the .ini thread before you ask - weird indeed :P

oh wow that must suck! I have never heard of this glitch before.
try using the resurrect console command after you have won the brawl or something.

I will try using that fix PancakeMonster, I'll update the thread to [Solved] if it works, I certainly hope so.
