Need Help- Alternate, Blurry World
Hello all,

Early on in my game of Skyrim, I loaded an auto-save file that put me in the ground, similar to no-clip, but collisions/gravity was still on. To resolve it, I just loaded an older save file (just a few minutes prior), and I didn't have any more issues with this, or so I had thought.

For the next 15-20 hours, I was missing Carlotta Valentia and her daughter Mila. I was looking to talk to Carlotta to complete the quest to have Mikael leave her alone. This evening I decided I wanted to find her to get the quest out of the way. I tried the following commands with no success:

  • prid 0001A675
  • moveto player 0001A675
  • kill/resurrect
  • disable/enable

Then I did player.moveto 0001A675, a loading screen popped up, and I spawned in a ditch underneath where her stand in Whiterun is with Carlotta and Mila. I used the no-clip command to get out, and I was in this "other world." It was like the first time, the streets weren't solid only random hills underneath the ground, and all the buildings were extremely blurry. I used fast travel to Whiterun to resolve the issue, and everything was back to normal, but I still couldn't use any of the commands to bring either of the two back.

All that said (sorry it was long), do I need either of them anymore? Is it possible to fix this without using a save file before this and doing it all over? Or should I just leave them alone in the scary, blurry world all alone, to live in eternity together with no one else?

Any ideas?
It does sound like you have some corrupted save games from either saving over the same game save slot or a combination of mod conflicts and save game problems? Possibly

I'd suggest going way back to a normal saved game and continuing ... remember that everytime you use the console to change your game especially moving npcs around can create problems!
Like if you want to see a certain character why not just sleep several hours until that person appears!
Not sure if this is the accepted practise but to avoid corrupted save games I make new Full saves before any new area ..then delete my "f5" quicksave so that the quicksave doesn't keep a memory of half of skyrim territory! It also gives you a reasonably good list of saves to go back to when you need it!

Yup, I'm thinking it was a corrupted file due to mod conflicts.

Today while I was playing, a courier came to me with an inheritance letter for Carlotta's death. I don't think she gives any more quests, so I don't see any reason to go back 20+ ingame hours. And yeah, I only used the console commands to try to fix Carlotta and Mila, I've never used it to modify other NPCs.

Good idea. I'll start manually saving more often to avoid further problems. Thanks for the response!
