It depends on what you define as epic. Anything that can be perceived as challenging the skills a player has acquired and mastered in any RPG can be considered epic if you overcome one of the most difficult hurdles relevant to that skill. It's an achievement that might not cost anything if you're playing a game with no achievements in it, but the feeling of conquering something can be a personal victory in of itself because you put the effort in to come out on top. Games that record achievements don't really count in this regard in my opinion since they are goals set by the game rather than you, the player, so an epic moment or victory has to be personal.

This includes final bosses and optional bosses. For instance, the Kingdom Hearts series has optional boss fights that test what the player has learned so far in each game and defeating them awards you with something that will improve how you play. The same could be said for final bosses, but the final boss of a game could possibly be a little weaker than the optional boss; yet the right timing can provide a moment where what you do can be epic. For example, a while back I was playing Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and fought against the final boss, defeating him with just half a heart left in my health meter. I didn't find all of the heart pieces and wound up having about sixteen full hearts, and I didn't win the first few times; but that victory was seized by the skin of my teeth and that's what made it worthwhile to me.

The first time I bumped into a frost troll. I thought I was pretty bad ♥♥♥ till he handed it to me. Finally beat him using a bit of skill and timing that I hadn't needed till that fight

Once I had just got done dumping all my gear in my house (Vlindrel Hall) and was heading to the smithy to craft some new gear. I was carrying nothing but regular clothes and crafting materials.

So I stepped outside and the drums start playing - when I look up there are 3 - yes - THREE?! dragons circling overhead and landing all over the place. There's me - wearing noble clothes - nothing to defend myself with but a woodsman's axe!

Yes I know - I could have run back inside and geared up real fast and returned to the fight ... but I didn't ... what eventually happened was I looted crossbows & swords from dead guards and after any many long minutes of running all over the city I managed to take them all down with nothing but steel bolts and a rusty sword! Marked For Death helped of course!

Now - that was definitely epic!

Aetherial Shield

Stumbling into the quest, finding the ruins from her map (my map didn't update), exploring the ruins, forging the shield, bashing that stupid prat of an apprentice with it over and over and over.

Escaping guards around Riverwood. I don't remeber exactly why but for some reason the only way to escape was jump into the river. I did and rode it all the way to the bridge by Honeingbrew Meadery.

3 dragons attacking me straight after another. First was a blood dragon, killed it. Second was a normal dragon, killed it. Third and last was another blood dragon, it had landed and had nealy killed me as i had also nearly killed it, I was one hit away from dying, he drew it's head back to lash at me then my horse ran in to attack it but took that hit for me, killing my horse but allowing me to kill the dragon. I miss that horse.

I still miss that Helmet.
It sounds lame but I was told Phenis was the best conjuration teacher is skyrim, when I got him he couldn't help me at all. I was very proud knowing I was better than the best.

In the broken oar grotto, sneaking towards the main hideout within, looking at a bandit thug at the grinding wheel sharpening a mace from across the cavern, I draw my bow, take aim, shoot, the kill scene engages, I prepare for the epic kill while watching the arrow shear through the air like a bullet, then when it finally arrives at its target, it hits a wooden post a half foot to his right, I go "OH COME ON!!!", so I run over, grab my ebony warhammer, and crack his skull open. end of story.

Chasing the white stag while being chased by two dragons, running into Thalmor assassins, then vampires, then giants, and causing a giant cluster♥♥♥♥ of more and more enemies.

I made the mistake of exploring when I was level 2 with iron weapons and armor and ran into a dragon. I tried to run away and ran into two giants and a mammoth. Kept running. Got attacked by a bunch of bandits and a sabre cat respectivly, then finaly got back to whiterun with all of them following and realized the guards still hated me for killing that general store guy (and several others). They only tried to arrest me, though, so I told them I was the thane and hid behind them while they killed everything.

Then took all of the dead guard's gear and sold it.

Dragonborn,,,Riding the Dragon,,,Fighting a dragon/saber cat/3 wolfs/4 bandits and 3 guards in Dragonbridge.
Not alot of health left after that dust up. Beating that Frost Troll, for the first time, on the way up the trail to the Gray Beards...I learned to die alot on that one. Finding Linda sweeping up her room...shocking.

I've never seen three dragons attack at once or one at a time, so it must be some kind of glitch. The Extended Encounters mod has an event in which you fight two dragons at once, but there's a very low chance of it happening; I've only experienced it twice so far, but there's never been a third dragon in either encounter.
