Skyrim is not hardcore (Ideas thread)
Mods, mods everywhere.

Skyrim is a game about exploration and character devolpment I find this gameplay to be very fufilling but what it needs is functioning multplayer. Bethesda threw out a mechanicly bad mmo but what we want is a sequal to skyrim with functioning 2-4 co-op, classes, the strikng system found in morrowind (look it up) Weapon types found in morrowind. Where it takes place is up to bethesda and what it has is that aswell. but please make it more hardcore. I want an hd morrowind experiance so i can relive what made that game hardcore with a better engine and new storyline, for those that havent played morrowind you missed out on a hardcore experience. Skyrim Made things dumb down and made the game rely on mods to make a good game. While my hours say skyrim is a good game morrowind is far better.

tl;dr MAKE THE NEXT TES GAME HARDCORE WITH THE CORE FEATURES FOUND IN MORROWIND

Ty very much for reading this. Have fun!

EDIT 1:

Morrowind had a more in depth field of gameplay, skyrim is in depth with graphics and mods but really? Morrowind has the surpieror classes, traits, weapons, armor, and roleplaying experience. Want my ratings on the top three?

Oblivion: Gameplay wise

Morrowind: Content wise

Skyrim: graphics/modding wise

Morriwind more features depth and replayabilty. With more classes skills and better enmies and quest made it a more hardcore experience

Morrowind features utterly broken progression and crafting systems as well as a roll-to-hit mechanic that has no place in 3-D first person combat, and a watered down magic with that god-awful TES skill-based system. Sorry, but if you want a hardcore experience you need to go to games actually based on tabletop play like Fallout and the Forgotten Realms games.

It is fine to prefer Morrowind and the things that were left out of subsequent installments in the Elder Scrolls series, but calling any TES title, Daggerfall and Morrowind included, hardcore is wrong. TES has always been action RPG.

So hardcore isnt the right word? Ok thats alright but some things would be left out. but strike types spell creation and more weapons in vannilla? ITS TO DIE FOR!!!

I think that the philosophy of "more" is one of Bethesda's two biggest problems, the other being writing. Look at Skyrim's game world. "More" is everywhere; to paraphrase from Totalbiscuit the game world is the size of an ocean but that ocean is only an inch deep. I would prefer to see a reduction in scope and an increase in depth. The same would go for a theorectical increase in types of gear.

Morrowind =/= Hardcore

... more traditional maybe but it wasn't exactly the toughest RPG ever created. Playing as a mage was just a hotkey spam fest in the end and the roll-to-hit mechanic doesn't need to make a comeback.

Bring back the depth? Fine go ahead ... but I'm fine with just improving on the Skyrim combat.

And you can stick CO-OP Elder Scrolls where the sun don't shine!

the co-op would be fine. Its a bit overrequested but it would allow players to share the fun of the game without spending 10 hours alone at night! Would have a bigger chance of saving couples and such!!!

Ok - look rant incoming ... I realise the small % of Skyrim players who want co-op may not want a full blown MMO. But I'm going to try and explain why Bethesda co-op is a bad idea ... not because I don't want it ... but because its Bethesda.

1 - Bethesda makes single player games - it is what they do. Co-op isn't something you can just tack on and expect it to work. It would require a whole restructuring of how they make games. Considering they handed ESO off to a different company - its clear they do not want to - or maybe simply don't have the capacity - to make a co-op experience themselves.

2 - This is BETHESDA!! Otherwise known as BUG-thesda. Their games are riddled like swiss cheese and barely supported after release. All the fixes are done by the mod community over a number of years?! If you want a co-op that actually works - you'll need Beth to release a game where the SP campaign is as close to bug-free as possible! Or at least where the bugs are predictable and consistent across many different users & hardware setups.

If Bethesda ever manages #2 - then I'd be fine with them making co-op. But I'd also expect my bacon to fly thru the window in the morning and butcher itself!

3 - ESO - why spend millions to develop an MMO that hopes to be the next gen WoW - and then go undercut its potential playerbase by sticking a never used mechanic into your next major title? It makes no business sense at all ... maybe if ESO is a total flop in a few years, but its not looking that way right now is it?

4 - Co-op games - as in good games - are built specifically around that mechanic. Most games where its tacked on as a halfbaked PvP multiplayer don't end up being remembered for the co-op experience. Elder Scrolls is a huge SP exploration game, always has been and I pray to all that's holy, always will be. Considering the missteps that happen with every new title just being, ya know, what its meant to be ... I don't see how doing a 180 on the series' main focus is going to turn out very good now is it?

ie ... Assassin's Creed - personally I love the MP in that, but many didn't and its now being dropped in favour of something else with focus on its most popular aspect - the SP campaign. Do we need Beth to waste a few years and a title on something Ubisoft already proved wasn't the best of ideas?

5 - We've seen a massive reduction in depth of questlines and tangible choices with consequences from Morrowind to Oblivion. Even the OP himself is calling for a return to reading many many dialogue branches in a barely discernible lo-res font! The addition of high quality graphics + voice-acting has raised the budget and narrowed the RPG possibilities considerably.

Do you really want them to cut out even more potential content just so you and your buds can go pwn some Dremora and fight over the loot? Do you really want a game thats already thin in the combat mechanic and incredibly easy to beat - get even thinner & easier?!?!

Sure it might be a nice idea, I guess, if anyone at Bethesda could finish a SP title without problems. But as I said - self-butchering flying pigs first please!

Do you guys actually think about what it is you're asking for, before you ask it?!

And finally 6 - IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS MAINTAINING A RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE OF VIDEO GAMES THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IN ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE. :P

TL;DR
NO - bcuz ... stuff ...

Ok so co-op might not work. But i would really like the game to have more equipment/more depth/better quest like oblivion and morrowind. Classes and strike types NEED to have a comeback. The stones were gay af and it never worked out for me. You pointed out co-op wont work and its perfectly fine, But if we arent going to get a more in depth rpg like morrowind and oblivion i might not invest in the TES. See bethesdas trying to apeal to "kids" and "action" gamers. The originals were not "hack and slash" games. So now they have fancier graphics, "try to becom thane of everything" and crappier guild missions than i have ever seen!

TL;DR No more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ vanilla content!!!
