why?

Well mainly because they have astroturfers on there pretending that there are no valid criticisms of the game, and every time they would do that, someone would post this video and say "Refute This Video".

They want a controlled forum where people thinking about buying the game will see positive posts about it, because they see the forum as part of their marketing.

Yeah the lying astroturfers at Zenimax have decided to lock their forums so that only people who have ESO on Steam can post and they can curate the posts more easily to control what people see.

Wow that sounds pretty terrible.

Isn't that a breach of some steam rule or so? You know, it might be false marketing when you only show the good sides? (needs better phrasing)
