Just bought Skyrim: Legendary Edition.
Haven't played a game on a laptop in forever. New to Steam. NEED advice as to where to start, how to get involved in the community and not be a stranger. Any and all advice is welcome! Thank you!

you need to deskribe your problem little more. you can check the sticky topics to se if your ansver is there.
One thing i can say is to install the Unoffcial patches.

I think he's asking for starting advice in the game, not on how to fix problems.

Anyway, I don't have any advice to really give you other than play however you like. The game is very open-ended so you can basically do whatever you like.

Sorry for being vague, just still trying to work my way around and figured it wouldnt hurt to ask questions. Thank you though!

Was thinking about that to. Chibilibi

You can think about it like you have one life that you have in one game. you can marry what ever you want etc.

Np.
But install the Unofficial patches. They fixes alot of bugs.

Make a character you would enjoy playing and dive in. :) Don't bother about "what's the best race" as there isn't one. (Argonians obviously). Make a race you think is coolest the most and roll with it. I also recommend checking out steam workshop for Skyrim and install some cool mods that enhance your gameplay.

Where might one find said unofficial patches? And; not a he. I'm actually a she. Hence confusion. Apologies.

ok :)
Nice to know, always good to be enable to adress someone correct :)

You can find them at Nexus. In the pinned topics you can find one tread that tells you where they are. They are free to DL.
this is the tread. you have all information in that.

Honestly my favourite way to play is a mage that is very rogue-like, But as i get further i'll start to round out my abilities. As for you, look at the skills and see which oe you might like best and focus on it, if you dont like it then start doing something else. Simple as that, no hassle to switch except that the skill might be a bit under leveled for what youre facing. But like what was said before, you can do pretty much anything, and choose if you want to follow story and which stories you wish to follow.

And you said they help improve game play? Its actually still downloading for me. I saw the ad for the legendary edition for 75% off and couldn't say no.

I've been playing on 360 for a while with basic, saw legendary edition was $15 and had to pick it up.

I've seen it played a few times and was immidiately interested. I'm on my laptop so I guess that might be the root of my disaray..

They will improve your Skyrim and fix many annoying bugs/quest fixes etc.

As xxramdom said you can play as one mage, right now i play like one big ugly male that have broken out of one prison :)
Used one mod for that.
Have played like one female that was good at magic and bow.
You can be what ever you want :)

I'm not sure how well the game runs on laptops, I hate laptops so much xD. But if you have at least a decent laptop is should run fine. I suggest not using a track-pad while playing unless youre used to using one.

It runs fine on one laptop that is one year old.
