hi, I start to despair with this game that continues to crash my PC when I open the map.

I have no mods installed, not even what the workshop.

Second from bottom pinned topic if you are not using the USKP.

Hi Amock,

I had similar problems with the game. To repair the data files did not work and I could not imagine what was wrong. After uninstalling and reinstalling it was fine again.

Do you get the crash on a new game?

Hi i'm amock's friend. He tried to repair, unistalled the game twice, even reinstalled it on another hard drive. Nothing worked!! He formated is system too, and it still not working. Apparently he can launch the game without problems (doesn't have any mods installed from steam or nexus), but when he wants to see the map, game is crashing. Making sometimes a huge noise, and he needs to restart his computer. He doesn't play with an old save game (if it can help).

Is his cpu or gpu overclocked? I've read somewhere that it could cause problems in Skyrim.

I don't know. I'll ask him when he comes back.
He said that he didn't overclock any of them

When you say huge noise, do you mean from the game or the computer?

Backup your skyrim.ini file and then add:

[MapMenu]
uLockedObjectMapLOD=8
uLockedTerrainLOD=7
fMapWorldMaxHeight=150000.0000
fMapWorldMinHeight=1500.0000
fMapWorldZoomSpeed=0.600

He's gonna try it.

Thx both of u for your answers.

Hi, well the solution u gave

is the good one and solved the problem.

But now sometimes when he leaves a house for example and it begins to load the other area, it stays block, like if it was an infinite loading, and nothing appears.

Any solutions for that?

Try turning auto-saves off. Just remember you will then have to make a habit of saving.

Also, if your game still crashes when transitioning from one area to another, try the memory patch "mod" from The Nexus. It's just a straight download, of two files, that go in your main Skyrim directory. By some rights, it never should have worked, since it says the latest version of SKSE has it already built in (which I do have), but it didn't work for me. Not until I installed that startup memory editor. All I know is, it worked for me.

Edit, sorry, link: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?
