How to dismiss lydia--if you lost her
Hi,
I am trying to recruit another follower and they won't come with me because they say I have one already. I would like to dismiss her but I do not know where she is, I remember telling her to wait somewhere but then i guess i kept going and forgot where i put her....Is there a way to like remotely dismiss or do i have to retrace my steps?

She will not wait there forever. They usually have enough after three days and return to home.

If it gets bugged, you can try to use the following command. It is consideres safe to use, because the effect would be simiar for follower leaving from your service in remote area.

set playerfollowercount to 0

I would still not overwrite solid saves, before seeing that Lydia got safely home.

Yes. She would otherwise go to Breezehome, if you had already bought it.

No. Do not use that command for NPCs. Otherwise it will create a new reference of that NPC - or from any base object that you use it.

Correct command is the following:
moveto player

I do not encourage to use console commands in game, except for debugging. It is possible to bypass triggers from the game by using them, making some questlines unplayable.

If you really do need to use a command, then consult the following guide about them.

I knew it didn't sound quite right which is why I asked for clarification I use very few console commands mainly "help <add text here> 4" and "player.additem" and "player.modav" I don't use much else except for to debug
