Google happens. And google will tell you that nothing happens.

Scum.

But seriously, why do you need so many?

Having that many saves can make your game unstable, having that savenumber does nothing.

i have a mod that does a hard save every 10 minetes so that i dont need to worrie about crashes when doing no fast travel runs

Hopefully, one would move most of the saves to storage.. usb, external ssd etc. If there is a large number of saves in the save folder the save/load list will seriously lag the mouse while in menu

The savecount keeps going up even if I delete all saves including the current game I am playing. I am over save # 1007 with no problems. No I dont have that many saves only about 10 total

The save count itself is not an issue or problem.

I just hit 1003 saves last night in my current playthrough. Haven't noticed any problems yet. And all of them are present and accounted for in my saves folder; haven't moved any anywhere else and haven't noticed any mouse lag that I can tell.

I am well over 2500 saves (yeah I know) but am still on my first playthrough which I started in 2012. Just started Dragonborne. Of course, I move the saves from the folder.. leave maybe 10.

I just make a named save using the console and back that up in "My Saves" (and a memory stick) as opposed to "Saves" then delete the entire Saves folder. The game makes a new folder and starts counting at 1 again. I just drop in whichever character save I want and carry on. The game is so clever it even skips whatever number my named save would otherwise have been.

The external backup of saves (memory stick etc) is always a great idea especially given the EOL of consumer grade hard drives. I also like your method, pedantic..."starts counting at 1 again" but prefer a running total as a "how ^&^* anal could I possibly be" meter.

Well, I'm not going to compete, MageThis. 2500 saves, or more, is too big a head start now. :-)

I am happy it is not a competition and that possibly at lvl 70 I am not the only one that thinks "hmmm, there are 2 mudcrabs, I better save and backup my files." ; D
