Why are the weapons and armor often compared to Daedric things?
Because if you want, you can craft a lot of armor and weapons more effective than Daedric.

Only through Mods though. Saying that Very few people here play only vanilla. Daedric is the best Heavy armor and the absolute best smith weapons except for a few one of a kind weapons.

Actually the best heavy armor is up for debate, it has the highest armor rating yes, but it weighs a lot, and the armor rating damage reduction caps at 567 armor.

Milk drinkers wear Daedric armor. True Nords wear steel.

The alchemy-enchantment loop affects the smithing improvement effect just as well as enchanting improvement.

That way you can make a potion that improves a piece 139% better, and wear several pieces of armor and jewelry to boost it as well.

It's a way to improve "lesser" armor and weapons so they easily surpass unimproved Daedric items. It makes a huge difference. You can create an armor where you barely won't feel a thing biting you.

100% true. People always compare stuff to Daedric because they are stupid.

Nordic carved armor. Got over 400 armor rating on a legendary set, and I only have level 50 heavy armor or so.

for the base value of base-game heavy armors, daedric is the most protective non-unique armor. DLC, smithing, and mods can improve things up to the cap of 80% DR, but without them, daedric is the 'best' that can be crafted and looted normally, as it has been in previous games. It's mostly just useful because it establishes a baseline.

Screw the leather and furs; we fight in naught but our loincloths!

... why do I keep getting new ideas for how to play this?!

Play with no armor except a cloak (Because capes are badass) and the best heavy gauntlets you can find, and only use your fists to fight.
Like a true nord.
