Are Civil War Quests still a pain to complete after MQ?
I have completed the Main Quest in Skyrim, no dlcs yet. Would it be a bad idea to start doing the civil war quests? I heard that if you do CW after MQ then the CW quests are really buggy and the game has a hard time working due to so much crap out in the world (dragons being everywhere, etc.) Does this still hold true or the recent patches fixed that?

I didn't notice any trouble with the Civil War after beating the MQ. Dragons won't be an issue, it's mostly a couple sieges on Forts and two Cities depending on which side you choose. Hell you can probably fast travel to locations near where the quests take place as you've most likely discovered most places in Skyrim at this point.

you have it in reverse

Did the civil war several times after the main quest never had a problem if any the civil war is buggier before the main quest, because it's longer so more can go wrong.

It is not recommended to advance the MQ in Act II, when Civil War is active. Trying to advance in to Act III, while Civil War is active, is very likely to bug your save permamently.

It is recommended to finish Civil War before starting the Act II or to start it only after Act III is finished.

Acts can be found from this link, for those without need to worry about MQ spoilers.

The civil war quests should be fine, unless it is just your game itself is buggy.

It is quite possible to also screw yourself out of one of the achievements wiith Season Unending if the Civil war is still ongoing. As you can hand over the specific forts to the other side so never actually assault them.

Oh wow, I had no idea. I've had almost zero interest in the Civil War questline, so have done almost everything else so far but that :)
At some point I intend to undertake it, either with the current do-everything character or by creating a new char pretty much just for the CW.

If you ever create a chracter for Civil War, then this might interest you.

Ok yeah, I heard about the CW quests being broken either when doing the MQ or after it. Just wanted to make sure because I read an article and the guy had to restart from save like 40 times to finish one fort battle.

But what would you recommend doing? I did most of the small quests but have not done the Thieves, DarkBrotherhood, or any of the dlcs. Should I just leave the CW for another toon, I heard that the dragons flying everywhere and the CW battles make your PC work really hard.

Oh really? I think I gave Riften to the Stormcloaks and Solitude to the Imps, I think. Would that affect the achievement? I guess it wouldn't matter because my first character is nuetral in the CW and does kind of everything for everyone but it never hurts to know just in case :)

Civil War can be a bit hard after Act III, because so many character around you will have high levels. Normal grunts are still quite weak and their only advantage against your side is their mass.

Take a follower with you. My (crazy) mage dragged Lydia trough the Civil War and hid behind her back, when arrows were aimed at him. I am now playing ApolloDown's "Civil War Overhaul" and this tactic is still valid, especially when dealing with Stormcloak giants. :O

I don't think that dragons are going to give you that much of trouble. If one of them happens to join the battle, then it is usually dead very soon. Most problems would be after battle, when you come out of the fort and face one of these buggers with just a handful of low-level grunts. This was the other reason I dragged Lydia along.

Ok I guess doing CW would be another good reason for me to make another character :) I'll think about doing CW with my first character since he is supposed to be nuetral on those things. Anyways thanks for all the help, I see you a lot in the forums and I appreciate all the help and insight that you are giving. :D
