Cloud save problem between a laptop and a desktop pc
Sup!
My problem is pretty much just like the title. But let me explain exactly what I've done.

I just deleted all my saves on my desktop PC, because I wanted to start a new character all fresh. So I played a bit and then I quited. Took my laptop to my work, I started up Skyrim and CONTINUED on my adventure. But then after several work days of playing. I felt to play on my weekend and I saw that the only save I did have was when I stoped playing Skyrim at home.

Though, I didn't have internet at my work, so I played in offline mode and if it changes anything, I have steam on an external harddrive. But I havn't had this problem ever before.

So what I've tried doing is starting my laptop at home, started Skyrim and just did a new save with the same character. Then I quited Skyrim, I let the game sync on steam and then logging out. Then I logged in on my desktop pc, I see the game syncing, I start skyrim. But I haven't gotten the save from my laptop. I've redone this about 3 times now. Still no succes. Am I doing something wrong? If YOU can help. Please do! Thanks!

When you started your laptop did you put it back to online mode, play a little then save? Only reason I ask is I have forgotton to do this myself.

Hi, I just tried. I made sure that I was online on my laptop. Played for about 20 minutes or so, got autosaves and I saved manually. Then I quited the game, waited for it to sync on steam. Then after a while I loged out of steam. I started up steam on my desktop pc. I didn't see anything about that it was syncing with Skyrim. I made sure by starting Skyrim, to see that I still didn't have the game saves/files.

The only other thing I can suggest is you start your laptop in online mod and go into Steam and 'Check for Steam Client Updates'. I f you get an update then enter the game, play a little , save and exit.
Start your desktop, make sure it is in Online mode and 'Check for Dteam Client Updates' etc. When you switch from either computer Steam usually notifies you that it has detected this.

I can't believe it. Now it is working!

I am not sure if it is because of that, but I think so. Even though it said that everything was up to date when I did check for Steam client updates. After I did 'everything' on my laptop, then I started my desktop and did the same routine, but when I started Skyrim I got a window which plopped up and asked me if I wanted the saves from the cloud or local content.

Thank you Roscaia for your help and support! +1!

I think I read something before, where someone set their save location to be a dropbox folder, and they used that folder on both computers(with the same account, obviously)

Hmmm, how does that work? Dropbox, is that just like cloud? Or does it mean that I just should use my external harddisk for both my laptop and desktop pc?

Dropbox is a cloud that syncs to a folder. So anything put in the folder will upload to the cloud, and anything missing from the folder will be downloaded from the cloud.

You may be able to set something up with your wifi that allows you to sync your computers. In fact I'm pretty sure you can do that, but I can't remember how.
