When do you guys start a new character?
I usually do when I install some new mods. For whatever reason, my Skyrim crashes when I do certain things. Then I have to root out the problem, disable, uninstall/reinstall the mod, and then start a new game and everything works fine. I hate it, but starting over is fun.

So, how often do you start new characters?

I usually start new character when I either feel that I have accomplished everything I wanted with the character or when I need to reinstall Skyrim and hundreds of mods when the game no longer likes to work. Or when I try out some mod which needs a clean start to work properly.

I start a new character when i keep on dieing after like 2 hits from everything...
I tried to play an assasin a few days ago, got raided by goblins in an open field,
i missed Rage spell twise so i ran out of mana, and by the time i pulled the bow they spotted me. Had to run all the way back to Whiterun for the guards to help me, it really pissed me off so i trashed the character. :p

Usually mods that won't uninstall properly or mods that can't be installed on a already used save (skyre, requiem, etc) ... or if I get bored from a certain playstyle

I usually begin a new character whenever I feel like creating another one. I've already got plenty so far, so every now and then I might add a new one to the roster of characters I made. I've only finished a playthrough with a Bosmer Ranger I made a while back (I say finished since I'm not going to go through the Dragonborn DLC due to getting stuck on the loading screen when trying to activate the Winds of Change Black Book). I might do another run as a Bosmer Archer next time since I may start a thread similar to Skyrimnut's thread about his playthrough with Lilithia, or I may just select another of the many characters I have and play as that character instead.

I create a character with the intention of a full playthrough, but honestly, I get them to level 30 and I am burned out on them. That is why I am always asking for a cool race mod. I am always looking for cool race mod! I am currenly playing a Jedi, and the new skill tree is fun, and a little challenging. I know someone will come up with a cooler race mod that I will have to play through, hehe.

That's another reason why I don't create my own, because then I would know what would happen, where's the fun in that?

What fascinates me is whenever I create a new character, the playthrough is always different.

I plan to eventually start a second character, but I have yet to finish doing everything I possibly can with my first character.

My first character lasted a few months until I kind of got bored and took a break from Skyrim. After I came back to it, I started my 2nd char and have been using him continuously since. After finishing the main questline, nothing really felt right to do, but I stuck with him because I didn't really want to start over after finally getting to a decently high level and having sweet loot. I keep contemplating starting over with a new char, but same issues, plus I really don't feel like ending up doing so many of the same quests over again.

I'm at another point now where I can't decide if I want to start over again. I think I may just take this character all the way, and be the master of all the things, even if it doesn't feel quite right. I've been wanting to give Morrowind another playthrough at some point, so maybe I'll just save a new character for that.

i honestly dont like making new chars i can spend hundreds of hours on one single save.
however if this save was ever to get lost or not to be working anymore ill be sure to start a new one.

altough i dont like replaying missions like these.

currently playing as a nord child.
with pretty much a mixture of everything.
bow and arrow
destruction magic
stealth
and melee combat

i think i am doing quiete well ^^
but i play single player games for fun so i dont really put difficulty higher then normal

Depends on the quests i've done. If i've done all the main ones and all the major stuff like collecting dragon priest masks then i'll start someone new. It's been my experience that getting to around level 60 for me is when it's time to get someone new because a lot of the quests have been done.

When I get a new idea for how I want to play, usually brought on by a mod or video I've discovered.

Like right now, I'm itching to create a wandering bard/merchant because of the merchant and bard mods out.

But who am I kidding, I spend 90% of my time in the CK, I don't even play my current characters enough.

I've been playing with my first character, never created a new one, and I don't think I'll do it soon.

Using Mod Organizer, I can try out a new character with different mods without breaking my old save. MO is designed to "virtualize" the mod directory so mods can be added or subtracted at whim. It won't work with Steam Workshop mods, though, so I've stopped subscribing to any more. The ten or so I do subscribe to don't cause problems, so I leave them be.

That being said, I am taking a break from my sneaky Khajiit and am now playing a warrior Orc child. I am playing in a totally different way with this new character with a largely different mod set. I will get back to my Khajiit, and the mod profile and saves for that character will be just as I left them.
