Legendary Dragon Hunt
Help wanted with Legendary Dragon locations, and or possible theories as how to find them. I know it seems strange that i'm asking this, but any and all honest help or suggestions would be appreciated. Ever since Dawnguard was announced, and the Legendary Dragon info was found out, I have been itching to fight one. I have been trying to find one by legit methods, but have been unsuccessful. Throw your theories, suggestions, even methods of your own making at me! I'm willing to try almost anything to encounter the mythic purple, bug-eyed dragon! DO NOT participate in this conversation unless you have actually met and killed a Legendary Dragon.

Iam, as of now, level 84. I have every expansion. The Skyrim wiki does say you have to be level 78 to fight one, but I was level 78 three months ago, and I play Skyrim rather avidly, and in all that time, I have still not found one.

Yes, hence what I just said in my last post, "I have every expansion."

Sorry, it is quite late here, missed that one. I am level 172 and every dragon I encounter is legendary.

Well, I was trying to find a way to encounter one in a legit way. Did you naturally level up to 172? Or use mods to do it?

Basic grinding and grinding. Blocking and Armor versus giants, and a lot of crafting.

See? Thats what irks me to no end. People are saying their lvl 79, and they are fighting Legendaries. It just doesn't make any sense. I do have a mod, known as "Most Dragons!", which ups dragon spawn rates, but it doesn't seem to give me Legendaries, just Ancient Dragons. I wonder if the mod is adversely affecting those chances...

I think I've only killed 2-3 legendary dragons myself. Most of them tend to be Ancient. Try re-visiting some of the dragon lairs built around word walls. Chances are the dragon will be replaced with a Legendary version.

I can't tell you how many times ive done that in the past 3 months, and there not be a Legendary, but thanks for your comment, friend.

They tend to appear at certain levels as Grathagis says. Ancient dragons start appearing regularly after level 50, and Revered dragons apparently from 33-59, although I've never seen one before 59.

That would be my guess. Does it say its Dragonborn compatible?

Contact the mod maker for "Most Dragon's" and see if he knows why, maybe he made a mistake by not putting Legendary Dragons in his mod-just a guess

I think that's the most likely case. While Ancient Dragons are the strongest dragons in the vanilla game, the DLCs add three more dragon types after that: Serpentine, Revered and Legendary. If you're just seeing vanilla dragons, then most likely the mod is forcing only vanilla dragons to spawn.

Ya know...that would actually make sense! I'll test that theory out shortly! On another note, I know it seems like i'm like Captain Ahab going after the white whale here, but the Legendary Dragon encounter was one of the things I looked forward to the most in Dawnguard. A dragon stronger than Alduin? Holy frack, I must find this thing!! Lol, still, thanks for all the help guys.
