HELP!!! Companion Gone Missing
So I got Lydia as my companion, bought Breezehome, then went to the Inn in Whiterun got druuuuunk. I woke up in a temple in Markarth. After dealing with some ♥♥♥♥ in that city, getting over my head if you know what I mean, I suddenly noticed Lydia disappered during one of the times when I was doing the Fawsomething conspiracy quest. I'm currently supposed to meet the Elfname dude in the temple, did my digging around the city. Whew no spoilers I think!

But yeah I came back to my house no Lydia. Went to Dragonsreach, no Lydia. Fast traveled somewhere, no Lydia. I'm not married to her but I would still want here back since she is the only companion I have and I'm not sure when/how I will get another one (please don't give me any spoilers on finding another companion unless it has some magical connection with my problem).

Thanks for hearing me out people of Skyrim!

Highly recommend you do get a follower mod. Amazing follower tweaks http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15524/?

You get a spell in your inventory that gives you tweak options, one of them being to summon your followers. The alternative option to do that without a mod, but also a lot less safe is console commands. Go to your console '~' on your keyboard and type help lydia 4, find her ID then type player.placeatme ID (Replace ID with the actual ID)

Why are console commands unsafe? I sometimes see them in the Unofficial Wiki of Elder Scrolls to help with some quest glitches. Thanks for the help!

This is the perfect example of why console commands can go wrong. NEVER use placeatme command for named NPCs. Use the moveto player command. Check the UESP wiki.

Well, if you lost her at a great distance then almost anything can happen like Lydia bumping into a tree for a few days until a bear jolts her loose.

I lost inside the city I think, I may have sent here out to sell some stuff but I don't think so... it is really weird.

You dont lose Lydia that easy.
You left her some place bonkin on some tree or wall.
Wait 3 days and she will be at Breeshome.
Or travel back and you find here wher you last seen here.
And stop telling people to use console for simple issues.
Lydia dont sell stuff, if you dont have some strange mod for that.

Oh ok... well I guess she is stuck somewhere and I don't know it. Or maybe dead? I think it has been more than three days now in game. Well good thing I'm the Harbinger for the Companions, eh?

P.S.

I wasn't telling anyone to use the console commands... I was only wondering if using command consoles was a good or bad idea (only used it once for a quest that could not of been completed otherwise).

While out in the wilds I dismissed Lydia and she said she would see me at home. When I got there(fast travel) no Lydia., After waiting for a while went backtracking to where I left her and running back to Whiterun I found her still slowly walking home !

Pretty sure he was referring to the user who suggested the console command solution, not you. :-P

Yeah I might of dismissed her... and since the city I was at was located on the very, very far east of the map... for all I know she might be walking back home lol. I adopted a child now so that is going to be a surprise for her if she comes back lol.
