My SKSE launcher isn't bringing up the menu where Data Files is anymore. It just goes straight to the game.
A little help? I'm getting into mods and I need that menu. Thanks :)

It's supposed to be like that. Start up the launcher through the original shortcut in your Steam library, click "Data files", configure them, "OK", exit the launcher, then launch using SKSE.

You should download a mod manager. I prefer Mod Organizer, but it has a learning curve. Nexus Mod Manager is the easiest to use.

Honestly it's a matter of preference. If OP is doing fine/understands installing mods manually, then they don't really need a mod manager. I prefer manual installation personally, however I can see how mod managers do help those who don't want or know how to do it manually.

I have NMM. Thanks, Feu Feu, I will do that.

There are only benefits to using a mod manager.

Oh okay, awesome.
Yeah the launcher trick is kinda weird at first imo but after a while it becomes something that you do automatically (Although there are times that I launch SKSE without activating my mods through the launcher first by accident, oops).

I'm confused. Why are you even bothering with the launcher if you use NMM?

I never said there are drawbacks. I agree, there are only benefits. But for (some) people who are PC/technically minded like me, unzipping/unraring files to the correct directory is easier than dealing with the mod manager. It sounds odd, but I'd much rather do it manually than having to learn the interface and other things of a mod manager.

Mod managers are great and I used a mod manager a while back and would recommend one to anyone who doesn't know Windows well or feels more comfortable using an interface for mods. I just don't see myself using one now.

I just have NMM to install the mods. I'm more comfortable with the launcher

I agree with you with regard to NMM. However, Mod Organizer does so much more than just install mods. It actually installs all of the mods and profiles in their own directories and doesn't even touch the Skyrim install directory. Keeps things insanely organized, especially good if you use multiple characters with completely different mods.

That's actually pretty interesting. I might look into it sometime because it does more than I could do manually.

Thank you for telling me about that- I stand corrected. c:

LOOT[loot.github.io]. It automates fixing and optimizing your load order. I use it to prevent conflicts.

No problem. I think a lot of people don't know why Mod Organizer exists, or why it is worth getting past the learning curve. It's at least worth looking at.
