Am i missing out on not having the special edition?
I have the vanilla, or normal version. I am curious if i wont be able to obtain legendary with my skills, or miss out on anything. What does the special edition have that the old doesn't? Are mods an issue with owning the old one compared to the S.E?

Standard Edition has better access to better mods(and everything is easier to install and manage with tools like Wyre Bash, MO, TESVEdit, etc. Special Edition's just a bit better optimized(at Vanilla, Standard can be easily modded to be the same as SE).

The only glaring bonus to SE is that your mod limit is theoretically higher.

Its hard to say whether i would upgrade or not. Would you do it if you were in my position? money not being an issue.

I don't plan on upgrading(but I don't really play the game anymore :etgpilot:), Special Edition and Standard Edition both have different nexus pages for their mods. Standard Edition mods will not work with SE mods and vice versa.

Im still unsure of which to keep/get. gonna download the dlc regardless, just not sure of whether to upgrade or not.

If you're planning on modding the game to hell, keep Standard Edition.
If you're planning on enjoying just what the developers made, refund your Standard Edition and get Special Edition.

Tip, don't waste your money on both, choose one or the other.

Well ive had standard edition for a long time now, so i doubt i could refund. I would like to mod a decent amount, as in more story/quests, graphics, etc. but idk how far i will go with it.

Take it from me: this guy summarized it perfectly.

The pc requirements are different which can impact which version will run better.
LE is single-threaded and will run on a weaker gpu.
SE is multi-threaded and requires a better gpu.

SE won't have a full SKSE (script extender) release (used by the "good" mods) for another month or two.

LE has better setup and modding guides e.g. the S.T.E.P. guide.
