Norse starting area

In the first area after the town (Myrkwood), there are some elevated platforms which I have no idea how to get up to. Anyone got any suggestions on how to get up there? I mean there's wolves and chests up there after all. And I really want that stuff

How do you even open the gate to go to Myrkwood?

you have to do the opening quest i believe, which you meet your father at the gate of the starting town, do a quest and find a person just down the road, go back to your father, then he will say the town is being attacked, kill the people and the portals, than after that turn in the quest and then some people in town will have the quests to go up into myrkwood to find odin and get food

The raised platforms are usually gotten to by looking for a path near the sides of the maps. I only remember a couple i could get on myself when i played this game. The other ones look like there not possible to get on.

You can't. You can get there only by paths near them. If there is no path then there is no way to reach them.

It's just badly designed map blocks. Due to every map being randomly assembled from squares, there are a ton of scenarios where it ends up with inaccessible areas. The Aztec areas suffer from this even worse.

Just ignore it.
