Universe Sandbox 3 (Entirely new version)

For many of those who have enjoyed the vast features of this virtual universe, good news as well as bad news about an even better version is coming near. Group Giant Army (Team of Universe Sandbox) has announced a new version of Universe sandbox entirely updated to the utmost level of awesomeness. http://video.unity3d.com/video/6958259/unite-2012-creating-the . As said, it will have far better, well, EVERYTHING. However the unfortunate information, is that it will not be free to those who've purchased Universe Sandbox prior to release of Universe Snadbox 3. http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,8350.0.html . Now you can damn the person who invented currency to dark oblivion all you want, but just keep in mind that this group has done so much as to educate young minds in the wonderful field of astronomy and physcis, and were willing to do this at no charge from the start (well that's an assumption or at least I know Dan was).

I don't understand, why 3 already? Universe Sandbox in Steam doesn't have 2 attached.

The most recent update for the one you originally purchased is updated to Version 2.2, thus with its "updated features" makes it a Universe sandbox 2. But nonetheless it still is a whole new game on its own, Universe sandbox 3 that is.

Universe Sandbox 3 looks amazing, I can't wait to play it. I read the forum post and Dan seems like a really cool guy who just wants people to enjoy the game and learn from it. I can totally see the justification for charging for it. I'm sure it's going to be reasonably priced too. Either way, game looks amazing already and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Honestly, I would buy it at full price if they add stuff like Supernovas and Pulsars from exploding stars. Or even to watch our son expand into a Red Giant with time and eat up the closer planets. But seriously, I like this simulator but I feel that they left out quite a bit and to add achievements calling for a flat out year of real time worth of playing, they need to add more than just gravity physics.

Did you check the links above. The video shows that in the new game, there will be some of what you mentioned that you would like (heck we all want pulsars, me i'm more about quasars and darkmatter), they only showed a small demo. The only bad thing is yes, full price for practically an update for the game we have. Even if whole new coding. But I digress, I do believe this version will have supernovas, and "exploding stars". I do believe that's the same thing. Depending on the class of the star you're talking about.

I don't know for sure, but I would say no since you're paying for a whole new game.

Since I got it during a sale I feel I got my moneys worth by a landslide, but I will say you are now fighting yourself since the current version is already very well made and useable.

That said my primary issue I had before was how little of my CPU was used when running. If the new system can run with most of my processor cores I think I would be willing to chip in when it comes out, rather then waiting for a sale down the line.

Either way I love what you guys are doing, and I look forward to where this leads.

Considering the amount of new stuff in V3, I don't think I'll have a problem paying for it again (I bought it at full price). As long as it's reasonable :-)
