'One year' achievement
Can somebody answer, what i exactly need to gain this achievement? To have "Game play on steam" or i get it when in game counter become ~8800 hours?
I.e. what i trying to say. I have Universal Sandbox running on dedicated PC with Steam Offline. So in game counter is ticking, and Steam counter is not. I already gain 'One day' with this variant, but on steam have only 11h played. Is it normal?

Also i sometime run simulations on my work computer where counter is only 15h and Steam On-line. How they synchronize, and doesn't i loose counter on Offline PC, when log Steam on.

Achievement so achievement. :D

Commenting to keep this up a little longer - I want to know too :p

no really you just play the game for the total length of one year irl. 365 days X 24 hours = total number of gameplay hours needed to gain achievement.

I'm thinking you'll have to be online with Steam to get the acheivement, and I think it will sync gameplay time across multiple computers you just have to go online with the offline pc at some point.

Do I have to run the simulation or can I just start the game, create an empty universe and leave it paused. Does that count towards the achievement tracker?

^I don't know, but if you created an empty universe there wouldn't be much point to pause it.

You can leave it paused in the background. I just got the 30.4 days achievement. :D

(And just FYI, you can view your actual run time on the bottom of the options screen.)

I was experimenting with these time-based achievements quite a lot, and it seems like you have to be in online mode, time spend offline doesn't stack. One year is approximately 8760h, trying to outsmart steam with changing date in system callendar didn't work for me. Steam was showing that i played for 9000hours but achievement didn't pop out

Yeah... there's a more extensive discussion about this on the universesandbox.com forums, but in short...

This achievement wasn't my best idea. Sorry.

The simulation itself... that was my best idea. It's the experience, not the achievements that matter here. That said, I'm going to try and do much better with the achievements in the new version.

It is truly a worthy competitor with SETI@home in most useless energy wasting reasons to let a PC run for.
