I assume you try to run it under vista or win 7 ? People cant even try to help without some more details.

It works fine on my Windows 7 machine. Did you run the video card setup and select your video card? If you don't it will probably default to your integrated card, which is always bad news,

What happens? When do you get the error? What video card do you have? OS?

It also works fine on my XP box.

No i understand about the lack of details sorry....its just i havent installed the game recently as i got another "version" that worked. But if you guys searched my laptop you would see its windows 7. but anyway.....yea im running windows 7....Search the old steam forums for resource error and you will see what im talking about. I searched for AGES on the internet and COULD NOT find a solution. I found a bunch of the same issue on UNIX systems but not for windows. Some people get it...some dont. I just thought since this forum was dead maybe i could get some help as the devs wouldnt respond. But yeah my laptop specs for those too lazy to search...

I7
560m
8gb ddr3
Win 7 (home?...i forget)

BTW i own a ton of games on steam (older and newer than this title) and they all work except THIS ONE. Runaway: A Road adventure....The game will not start due to that pk.03 resource error or something similar. Even the other runaways run. I have done everything under the sun. the other "version" works. But steam is preventing this one from working for some reason.

Overall its a good game....just wish I could run my steam version

Maybe your game files are corupted. Try this: right click on game in steam client, click last possition "Propertis", then click "Local files" tab and press "Verify integrity of game cache" button. Hope it'll help.

Try and update your C++, mine had the same problem, you can always script a code to
get the game working its not that hard really, the codes are very basic because its a old ish game, even in binary its a snap.

I hate programming/scripting so ill try and update C++ and post update. I figured steam updates the C++ files...but i guess not :P Thanks for the suggestion!

UPDATE: Did not work :( I did only install the 2012 one...which now i think about it doesnt make much sense since this is an older game. But damn....this is what im talkin about. I shouldnt have to go thru all this! Thanks steam!

You shouldn't rant about it in the forum, but ask steam support. That's specifically what they are there for.

Yeah...I reformatted and now it works...weird...it was the only game that didnt work however.

Emailed steam support. No help

Lol, dude, for "IT guy" you are quite blind and cant even see that problem is debug C++ library installed on your pc. Check you msvcrt.dll and other VC libraries. use SFC /scannow to restore system libs, remove debug libs manually, install latest vc 2005, 2010 redist. I mean do it next time before formating.... formating.. oh yeah the IT guy, if accidentally messed you with hackers and coders, who knows how to reisntall Windows without formating and who knows how to fix most problesm without reinstall at all))

Thanks for the tip Mr. Pro-Tier. That's right...cause IT people arent allowed to make mistakes. You tell me! Voodooman!

BTW..Steam installed corrupt C++ files...And look what you just told me to do. Reformatting is quicker than actually reading that wall of text.

Do you even lift?

Reformating for Noobs and for stupid tech support of HP and companies like that... that have such a "pro it guys" that cant suggest anything but to format XD Btw, are you one of that kind of it guys that works at tech support and suggest everyone to format pc and complaining about "broken games" on steam? Oh, why am i even asking? Ok maybe its because i dont like people who scream 1st, think 2nd, and 3rd, despite claiming to be super it guys, acting like a super lame it noobs?
