Controller disconnection problem [FIXED] [OR SO I THOUGHT]
I have a problem with my Xbox 360 controller disconnecting randomly and I have to restart the game. The times can range from 5 to 20 minutes before disconnecting. I used to be able to run the game FINE without any problems. I noticed though before it disconnects the game stutters for a few seconds and then I can't use it. Any help please?

Edit: All I had to do was validate the cache.
Edit 2: Well apparently validating the cache only worked for one session (which was about 40 minutes), I really don't know what the problem is because when I went to play for a second time I just barely was able to complete a challenge before it disconnected again.
Edit 3: I validated the cache AGAIN, and it didn't fix the problem. I really don't know what the heck is wrong.

Well I have a GameCube Controller connected (which is registered and I had input in the set-up) and it worked. BUT, I couldn't start a stage!

I'm having the same problem. Haven't found a solution yet :-(.

Personally, I don't even think there is one. I've searched up and down the internet for a solution and I've seen plenty of people with the same problem, with no solution. SEGA just got really f***ing lazy with the xbox360 controller compatibility, and didn't even bother to fix it. I bet they even know people have this problem, yet won't update or patch the bugs.

I'm sending a support notice to sega because I'm sick of this, hopefully my voice will be heard.

Edit: I finished it and tried to sound as professional as possible, lol.

"An Xbox 360 controller has had problems with compatibility, input lag, and general detection by the input configuration Sonic Generations has. My specific problem that tailors to me (others consumers seem to have the issue also) is that when I have my Xbox 360 controller plugged in and I play the game, the session can range from 5 to 20 minutes then it automatically switches to keyboard controls and I cannot further use my controller. A restart of the program is needed for me to continue using my controller and it is very unsatisfying to repeat the task to complete the game. I hope this is taken into consideration and a future patch will be worked on for controller compatibilty, because many users and consumers that have purchased Sonic Generations have had many controller issues. Thank you."

Funny how Sonic Generations PC had the xbox 360 controller in mind w/ having the icons there in the first place.

Well after almost 2 months, I made another attempt at SEGA's customer service. I'm asking them DIRECTLY in a proper manner for a controller configuration patch. Hope this goes well.

Something tells me I saw this coming...

"Hello,

Thank you for your input, though we are unable to make any official comments based on speculation. We suggest following online gaming news sites for official announcements or visiting the forums at SEGA.com to discuss things like this with the community."

Thank you,
Chris

Fight all we want... it isn't happening. I'm done. I'm just going to uninstall the game and add it to my Junk tab.

Just keep trying! Make sure to say that there are many people with this problem. Don't just demand it, either, ask for them to look for things on their end. I'm pretty sure "Chris" is the same person I talked to, so he knows you aren't the only one.

I... I finally fixed it. I contacted SEGA support, and was extremely specific in my wording. They told me to patch it with x360ce, and it... it WORKED! FINALLY, I'M FREE!

How do you even do it? I tried x360ce like 1000 times and got the same result..
