Has anyone gotten banned from using mods?
Because there are tons of people using these for custom levels and skins (I'll admit they look pretty neat) and I don't want to get banned if I ever do install them.

Banned for what? Steam doesn't prohibit you to use mods on single player games.

Ah, thanks. I must have been reading information relating to multiplayer games.

You will not banned from using mods on non-VAC games (such as CS:GO, CoD:BO and any other games) Which you can see on VAC Forum.

Sonic Generation is NOT on VAC game listing.

HOWEVER, if by anychance you are participating/playing on VAC games, while this sonic mods is ON, and somehow get ANY data transmitted, there will be quite some chance for you to get banned on those VAC games that you played.

Please do becareful when applying mods, especially that tweaks on .dll and .exe files
for that VAC ban is permanent.

This topic was closed months ago, however when I do use mods I always go offline before doing so and use Sonic GMI to play them. Then I uninstall all the mods and remove all the files I added to the folder before going back online.

I also use save file redirection because I only use mods for the purpose of playing user-created content, not for cheating.

hacking and cheating in mutli-player gets your banned , modding stuff has nothing to do with it.

You realize that Kotaku is celebrating the Sonic modding community on the Sonic Generations News page with special mind to the Unleashed Project.

I don't think Sonic Generations connects to other players (besides stage scores & times) in any way. Being banned from a game that's based on single player experience is unheard of.

No, of course not. These are local mods that do not affect anyone else in any way, and are completely safe. You will not be banned for installing or using any.
