Controller Issues.
Hey guys, I had bought the game not too long ago and decided to install it and give it a go. I went to configure first, to see how I could optimize it. I'm using an xbox 360 wired controller, and it works in all other games via Steam. However, when I try to map the controls for Sonic Generations, it just doesn't recognize my button presses whatsoever. It picks up and detects my controller, but doesn't allow me to map the buttons. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks!

Not sure if this is exactly what you're asking about, but Generations doesn't allow you to configure controllers. You can only use it as it's laid out, unless you use a program to assign keyboard input to controller input, since you can configure the keyboard.

If you mean it doesn't recognize your button presses, then that's a glitch with the Xbox 360 controllers on windows 8

I use Windows 7, so it's not that.

Well, that's the thing. My layout is blank, and won't even let me reset it to default.

I can't say that I have that problem, but, my problem is that say with modern Sonic in that one level before City Escape, I can't remember the name, but you need precise movements or you fall to your death. Any controller I've used thus far, will automatically sidestep Sonic to the left, and to his doom, and this problem somehow stems from the analog stick somehow.

He could just use JoyToKey, it's what I use

I'm having a time trying to make mine work. For some reason, the game recognizes my gamepad, but messes up it's controls.

Such as when standing outside a level (in the white space), the camera keeps zooming in and out uncontrollably. And when I go to enter a level, it acts as though I keep randomly hitting the left or right bumper (which makes it jump to a random level).
Finally, inside a level, it oftentimes acts like I keep hitting the left bumper, even if I've never hit it once.

Of course, as soon as I unplug my controller, and use the keyboard, it works just fine.

I've got a program like JoyToKey, but the problem is, I can't make the game NOT recognize my controller (and thus default to it, buggy controls and all).
Is there a way I can rig the .cfg to disable gamepads or something to make this work?

Thanks to another user's advice, I fixed my issue.

I downloaded the program mentioned in this thread, and, against all expectations, it fixed the controllers issues I was facing.
And possibly as a side-effect it also improved graphics performance (since the game's no longer wasting power on the controller bugs).

Incidently, the program mentioned is just the x360ce program I've used in other Sonic games, but has been specially tailored for Sonic Generations.

Thanks very much! Worked like a charm.
