How do I keep my laptop from dimming during gameplay?

When I play other Sonic games, my laptop won't dim the screen, recognizing that I'm playing a game.

But for some reason, it won't recognize me playing SADX, and dims the screen while I'm playing.
Since I'd rather not turn off the screen dimming feature, is there a way to make it so my laptop will recognize that I'm playing this game?

This is a bit wierd, i could be due to the game being old, my recommendation is to adjust the energy settings. A tip is to make an energy profile for gaming for easy switching.

I get the feeling you might be right. A while ago, I just decided to extend the dimming timer. Still, like you said, it might be a good idea to make a gaming setting to keep that from happening.

I just can't figure out why the laptop can't register this one game when it's playing, but recognizes every other program and game I play (and thus, won't dim during gameplay)
