Jade Empire is briliant. A real diamond in the rough. It is by far Bioware most intriguing and original piece. The Eastern setting and the lore behind these fantastic world is just vibrantly alive with bright colours and characters. The influence of Chinese mythology, history and fantasy is pure delight providing something new. Although there is nothing new regading the story saving the world premise, the story is told rather well and the progression of the characters purpose is done briliantly. I will not say more as to keep the suspense but despite its briliance, there are some mind numbing flaws that might cause you to lose patience with it.
Jade Empire has not been ported well by LTI Gray Matter, and the starting up of the game is the first problem. The steam community has been extremely helpful in providing the details to make it run as smooth as it can be however problems such as missing mouse and the occasional crashes may and can deter you from playing it despite the assistance. From the way it is ported, it is clearly design to be played in a console. Its combat mechanics is also rather weak and fairly easy. In conclusion Jade Empire is a unique experience full of lore and mystical beings but only if you get passed the technical problems that persist it.
- Great Lore and Worldbuilding
- Great sense of character development for the main character
- Some very fasicnating side quest
- Eastern Setting is fresh
- Bright Colours
- Crashes and startup
- Recycle story of saving the world and clinches
- Weak Combat mechanics
