I got an itch to start up Jade Empire after my 4 month break and now all of a sudden it doesn't even launch it just errors after the Launcher.

"This is just the latest in a long line of Steam DRM hiccups.

I solved this by exiting Steam completely and restarting it as an administrator (right-clicking the Steam shortcut and "Running as Administrator").

Failing that, verify the files for the game (right-click the game in the Steam Library and hit properties; then go to the Local Files tab and hit Verify game files...) and possibly repeat the previous step.

If that doesn't work, I'll try to work something else out."

This is how I got mine to work. Mine was having errors opening the config at the start.

1. Create a blank file named "SystemInformation.xml" in the "data" directory of Jade Empire (\steamapps\common\Jade Empire\data). You can do this using notepad.

2. Run steam as administrator.

3. Run Jade Empire.

Hope this works for those who try this.

btw, the option to change the config at the launcher still gets an error but you can change the settings in-game so just chose "Play" at the launcher.

IF NONE OF THESE SOLUTIONS WORKED THIS ONE SHOULD.

Go Into Steam and Right click the name of the game in your game Library

Go to properties

Click on LOCAL FILES and then click on BROWSE LOCAL FILES

If you scroll down you will find 4 .exe files named
JadeEmpire, JadeEmpireLauncher, JadeEmpireConfig, and TestApp

If you are running Windows 7 Right click ALL of these and go to properties

Then Click on the Tab labled Combatibility

Then Under Combatibility Mode Select Run this program in compatability mode: Windows XP (service pack 3)

Save it by clicking apply and repeat this process for all 4 files. Then launch the game from the file Jade Empire. Good Luck

One way I fixed a Failed to find stem issue was to turn of UAC and restart my computer, but it wasent for this game, still worth trying maybe?
