Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Is anyone else having trouble getting over the 200K mark?
Cause I am and it's so freaking annoying :<

Wha-? I'm over a million by now.

Late edit: Just noticed this is about the debt, I thought this was about not getting more than 200k Pix.

I dunno maybe I just don't put enough time in that game
all you need to do is save up as much as possible. then the day the bill is due if you don't have enough just go to the market and the merchant guild and spend everything to stock up on supplies. then when you start over on day 2 you'll have 150k+ worth of ♥♥♥♥ to sell right from the first day. if you don't get passed the 200k mark after that then you must be doing something wrong, lol.
Are you playing endless or the monthly stint?

If you like, add me and I'll help you out with your situation - if you'd mention which day you're on, the kind of stock you're keeping, and if you've played an endless game yet, that would help.

An hour of gameplay should see you adequately kitted up for cash, if time is a concern.

9mil at 44 hours and 3 retries.

NEVER buy blue items to save for when the price goes up. Buying blue items is hardly cheaper than normal, and hanging onto them until they normalize hurts you.

ALWAYS buy red items. Even though it's *slightly* more expensive to buy them, you can sell for 2x or more of the base price. RED ITEMS ARE WHAT YOU NEED TO PAY OFF THE DEBT!

Pay attention to booms, and buy 10-20 (depending on if you can do it 1 or 2 days in a row) of expensive items, like golden scales when "Housewives with new money management are on a precious metals bender". ♥♥♥♥ bricks when you get a boom on red items.

I had the 820k needed for the debt by the 3rd week. Last payment took 500k off my total 1.5mil.

Thats kinda a misnormer, if for instance "Weapons" go on sale and you stock up on a dozen weapons or a bajillion of food when "Sweets" go on sale and a few days later the items Normalize and then go into Red the next day then you've made a ton of profit. This has happened to me a number of times. The goal is to invest on blue items but not to the point that it will hurt you, invest in blue when you have the extra Pix and just hold onto it.
There are so many different winning strategies that it baffles me someone might have difficulty, especially with the continue +.
I made all of my money dungeoneering. The randomness of item drops that are complained about are easily overcome by running whole dungeons. Across only 5 floors you might be finding too much trash, but across 15 or 30 it is unbelievably unlikely that you'll not make any money from fusions. Knowing the fusions is problematic, but if you're reading the forums you might as well be reading the wiki too. I cleared the game without continue +.

I like the idea of buying red items to sell them while they're still high price.
If you're playing monthly (and not doing the 'get 100K in items and carry it to the next loop copout'), be sure not to sell too high early on. Even if you're only barely making the deadlines, the good will from your customers will really help later on. And yeah, sell red items as much as possible. That plus making sure to take orders, since they are a tremendous source of money and customer goodwill.

Selling too high is always a bad idea, the game encourages you to haggle with every customer, but you gain experience much faster if you try and get your first offer accepted avery time. Having your first offer accepted by multiple customers in a row gets you bonus combo experience which doubles with each customer, which means your merchant level goes up faster, which means you can get shop upgrades and better stock much earlier.
Golden Rule (and which I believe is unbalanced in Recettear) : Buy the red items (ones that inflated), and sell them to people for around 260%. It can go up to 300% if you're lucky, but for the Just Streak, 240% is your safest bet.
Sometimes people need to be sold cheap items before they will start buying expensive items, no matter how good a deal you are giving them on the expensive ones.
Increment what you sell mostly. Even on new game +, you need to start selling smaller items so build up customer reputation so they'll have more money later on.

For orders, vending machines count as "metal items." You can make a massive amount of money with those.
Had about 120k when 80k was due. I see no possible way of making the 200k goal in a week.
You actually can if your merchant level's gotten high enough for you to buy high-ticket items and your customers will buy at high prices. Then you can (for example) afford to buy up tons of weapons when they're cheap and sell them for ridiculous profits in your last week. A vending machine also lets you automatically sell overpriced items quickly, letting you gain a lot of profit in a very short time.
